EAASV Election of Officers for 2025 & volunteer request
Hello and Happy New Year. It is time to elect our President, Vice President, Secretary?and Treasurer for 2025. All of our current officers are willing to serve again this year. We do not have term limits, although if any of our paid EVA members wish to run for one of these positions, you are welcome to do so.?? Feel free to reply to this email announcing your name and what position you?are interested in along with a paragraph telling us a bit about yourself and why members should vote for you.? On the ballot, they can put your name as a write-in candidate. We have online voting so you can go to the following link and cast your ballot. The deadline for voting is 11:59 PM January 17th. Also, we are looking for volunteers who just want to help us with chapter activities. We have not had many meetings lately and could use some help finding guest speakers on EV related topics.? ?We can either meet in person at Maker Nexus in Sunnyvale or online via Zoom - or both).?? If you can help us find guest speakers, please send an email to me:?? During the year, we participate in various EV car shows, ride and drive events and health fairs.? EV dealers often provide cars that guests can test drive, however we also have our EAASV members display their personal EV as well.? This allows for a larger variety of EVs at the event and gives guests an opportunity to talk to an experienced EV driver who is not trying to sell them a car.? The vast majority of people who attend these events do not have an EV, however they are usually open-minded and you can answer their questions and concerns. If you are willing to display your EV or perhaps take passengers for a demo ride (they will not drive your car for insurance reasons), please send an email to:? Let Ben know the make, model and year of your EV and your email address and cell phone number.?? Thanks for your consideration, Jerry Pohorsky Electric?Vehicle Association Current Silicon Valley Chapter President |

San Jose EVA meeting Saturday January 11, 2025 10-12
Hello All,
If you are interested in Electric Vehicles, consider attending one of our meetings. All EVA meetings are free and open to anyone who is interested in Electric Vehicles (EVs). The meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of every month. From 10 A.M. until 12 noon The meetings are held at the Reid Hillview Airport terminal building. Located at 2500 Cunningham Ave, San Jose, CA Directions to the meetings are as follows. Take Hwy. 101 to Hwy. 680 North, exit & turn right onto Capital Expressway. Travel on Capital Expressway West for approximately 2 miles; turn right onto Cunningham. The meeting room is in the terminal at the end of the road. A typical meeting of the SJEVA is casual and informative. A round table is held after chapter business is completed. Topics are typically very technical from the folks who are building and driving real world electric vehicles today. Come attend a free EVA meeting and learn from EVA members who have been building and driving Electric Vehicles for 50 years. Become a San Jose EAA Member of our nonprofit organization and Show Your Support for a cleaner public transportation option. George Stuckert Secretary, SJEVA |

LOOKING FOR A GOOD BUZZ!!!!!!
Hello Fellow EVer's
Hope you all had a great Christmas and will have an even better New Year. My wife and I are looking to buy the VW ID Buzz. But first we would like to look, sit and maybe drive one. We have been to several dealer and they have gotten several Buzz, but they were already sold. My question is, has anyone in the EV group purchased or has a neighbor who has purchased the Buzz. Would you/they allow my wife and I to check it out? Thanks for your help and have a great day. George VP EVASV |

For that to work the charging network would need to think the car is some production car with authorized access to the network. Ford was able to do this with the Mach-E as have other manufacturers because they have officially engineered and authorized back end connections to Tesla's network. Unless some significant portion of a car's computers think it's still a Model S, or some other production car, it probably won't work. Home Level 2 charging should work. Re: What EVs can use lever #3 chargers?
Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season. Thanks to all who have answered Lou's questions and provided advice. I just got the license plates for my new Kia EV6 which can charge from 20% to 80% in under 20 minutes. Charging speed depends on both the EV model and the charging station used. There are multiple charging networks and a variety of charging stations that support the Chademo, CCS and Tesla DC fast charge standards My car came with 1,000 KiloWatt-hours of free charging from the Electrify America network. The Kia dealer loaded the Electrify America app on my smartphone and I had to register with a credit card and a $10 deposit to gain access to the network. Electrify America has a charging location at the Valley Fair Mall near Stevens Creek Blvd. and Highway 17.? I have attached a screenshot of the PlugShare charging station map which has details on this and other locations all over the USA.? There are a couple of user reports from another EV6 driver that charged there recently. Note that although the CCS chargers can supply 350 kiloWatts, the EV6 has a maximum charging rate of 235 kiloWatts. At this location there are 14 CCS chargers but only one Chademo charger that is limited to 50 kiloWatts. Also worth noting is that the popular Chevy Bolt EV with the CCS charging connector has a maximum charging rate of 50 kiloWatts even when connected to a 350 kiloWatt charging station. At that rate it takes a couple of hours to fully charge the Bolt EV.? ? Typically for all EVs, the charging current starts out high when the battery pack is low and the current decreases as the battery pack fills up. When the battery pack state of charge gets above 80 percent, the charging current has already decreased substantially, so waiting longer is a matter of diminishing returns. I found several interesting websites that provide more detailed information and have included a one page WordPad document with links to those sites. This document can be viewed by both Apple users and PC users. Happy New Year Jerry On Mon, Dec 23, 2024 at 12:45?PM Lou <c1937@...> wrote:

If the car is damaged but not declared totaled, would that work? I suppose they would need all the sensors and cameras to work along with the controls and displays.
