FX.25 question or problem
I've noticed something odd when using FX.25 on a RPi 4 with DW 1.7C.
I have two identical station setups.? RPi 4's with an Audio Injector Zero card. Channel 0 is configured for 2400 baud and Channel 1 is configured for 9600 baud. Communications between the two stations work great. When I enable FX.25 on transmit (direwolf -X 16).? Channel 0 works great.? The display informs me that FX.25 is working. Channel 1 doesn't appear to be working with FX.25.? Not sure if it's a transmit or receive issue.? The display is using the? pipes " |||||| " instead of the numbers " 0000 ". I've tried swapping the port baud rates (Ch 0 9k6 and Ch 1 2k4).? Same results.? Only Channel 0 appears to be working with FX.25. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. |
Re: virtual serial port for Direwolf in Linux Mint and Raspian?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhat OS are you running Direwolf?? Linux, Mac, or Windows?? You mention X-Net... is that the DOS X-Net program?? If so, how are you running it?? On a real DOS machine, under Windows, under DOSEMU, or maybe a VM? In trying Direwolf's SERIALCKISS option, what is your exact line in the direwolf.conf file?? Does the configured serial port physically exist on your computer?? When you start direwolf at the command line, what does it show when it starts? --David KI6ZHD On 12/23/2021 01:47 PM, KP3FT via

Re: Kissutil 1.6 looping in TXed packets - bug?
I learned from my own stupidity!
The crosstalk problems appear to be due to my settings.? I had the jumpers set to 9600 baud input, but the cable was coming in on the 1200 baud input.? It appears some audio was sneaking around (best guess) through the ground side.? I am now set for 9600 baud input, and the cables are wired as such.? Now it decodes on the proper channel only (except on TX where RF gets in), and the decode values are much more consistent!? Everything is working properly now. Rob KB8RCO |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhen you have issues, you need to find out if you are seeing any errors wherever you're running Direwolf.? Hopefully you're logging everything to a file to make this easy for you.? You're previous issues were around hamlib issues.? Maybe those came back?? Maybe you're having some form of RFI issue?? How close is your computer from the radio and it's antenna?? You really want the antenna as far away as possible and ideally on a different plain (for example, mounted above you on top of your roof). --David KI6ZHD On 12/18/2021 06:24 AM, Doug via

I'm still getting this error intermittently.? I don't know how to get it working again.? It seems I change a few settings on my radio and then change them back and it eventually works.? Any ideas?

Re: Easy-Digi CODEC not installing
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhat did not work?? Are you inferring your new Sabrent USB sound device isn't working with Direwolf??? If so, what issue are you seeing?? Did you follow the Direwolf User Guide to determine it's device name (aplay -l), etc. to get it all setup? --David KI6ZHD On 12/14/2021 10:37 AM, Fred Bouwman

Well that did not work. I have the Signalink back on that Pi so the digipeater KD9CCE-10 is back online but I sure would like to figure out the Easy Digi. |
Re: Transmit Sticks
Not sure if this will be the case with what is happening to you, but sometimes a high RF field around the PC or interface can jam the PTT one once Direwolf keys it with a packet.
One way to check for this is either set the radio to very low power, and/or turn it off and have some way of watching the PTT control voltage where it goes into the radio. If you can get it to 'stick' when the radio transmits, but not when its off, it would add weight to the idea that stray RF is causing the issue. One thing I saw with the DR-605T is that the coax connector is on the end of a short lead - these leads sometimes flex and break the braid where the cable enters the socket, or where it enters the radio. That's certainly one way of livening up the area around the radio with RF, instead of delivering it all up to the aerial. -Ian ZL1VFO |
Re: Transmit Sticks
EasyDigi's normally have inputs for the RTS and DTR pins from a serial port. With Direwolf the only setting that worked for me was this: PTT /dev/ttyUSB0 RTS DTR Other settings would either result in no PTT or a constant transmit. Interestingly enough, my radio is an Alinco DR-605T, and I am using an EasyDigi board. Others have posted on this list with constant transmit issues with other radios, but the common thread is the EasyDigi and using a pin from a serial port for PTT. APRS-IS is the network of APRS servers to which Internet connections are made from APRS client software (see ).? I think you meant APRSIS32, the Windows APRS client. Re: Easy-Digi CODEC not installing
You'll need a USB sound card. You connect the Easy Digi RX & TX audio to the input and output of the sound card, and plug the sound card into the Pi's USB port. Martin. KD6YAM ?

Re: Easy-Digi CODEC not installing
Thank you for this Patrick. So do I need an additional device besides the E-D added to the Pi?? On Sun, Dec 12, 2021 at 3:44 PM Patrick Connor via <n3tsz=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Easy-Digi CODEC not installing
Thank you Martin. I am gaining understanding on how these devices work. I am using a Kenwood TM-281?in this configuration.? On the Easy-Digi, besides the cables to the microphone and the USB to the Pi, there are two speaker cables.? One cable from the E-D (labeled "Radio SPKR Jack") on the E-D is connected to the radio speaker jack.? There are two other connections on the E-D.? RX Audio to PC? and? TX Audio from PC? I have tried connecting each of these to the Composite Video and Audio Output Jack on the Pi with no result.? On Sun, Dec 12, 2021 at 3:40 PM Martin Cooper <kd6yam@...> wrote:

Re: Transmit Sticks
Sorry, guess I did leave a lot of info out.
Radio is Alinco dual band DR-605T. Have a laptop that has a DB-9 connection (Com 1) that I've connected to an Easy-Digi interface, which is connected to my Alinco. At this time I do not recall what (if anything) I had to configure in Direwolf to activate the PTT. In my opinion, APRS-IS and Direwolf are different.? 2 different programs, I have to run both to make APRS-IS work.? Is there a way to open APRS-IS and have it work without opening Direwolf, Soundmodem, etc...?? If so, I'm confused. |
Re: Transmit Sticks
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhen I close APRS IS down and then restart it and Direwolf, about 1/2 the time when Direwolf starts up it throws my rig into transmit and will not release it.? I have to either close Direwolf or shut my rig off then back on.? You need to provide more details here: ?? - What radio do you have? ?? - How are you asserting PTT to the radio?? (serial PTT, CAT, GPIO, etc) ?? - What have you configured in direwolf for PTT ?? - You mention APRS-IS and Direwolf as if they are different.? Direwolf INCLUDES the ability to communicate to APRS-IS.? Please explain what you're doing here. --David KI6ZHD |
Transmit Sticks
When I close APRS IS down and then restart it and Direwolf, about 1/2 the time when Direwolf starts up it throws my rig into transmit and will not release it.? I have to either close Direwolf or shut my rig off then back on.? When this happens, it's like Direwolf will not perform correctly for 15-20 mins (will not transmit on APRSIS).? Other times, when I start it up and the APRSIS program, all is good.? It puts out an immediate transmission and releases the rig and all is good.

Re: Easy-Digi CODEC not installing
Easy Digi does not contain a sound card. It is merely an interface between a sound card and a radio. The USB device you are seeing controls PTT to the radio. Patrick (N3TSZ)

I am having trouble adding a sound card. My Easy-Digi is not adding the CODEC sound card to the Pi when I plug in the USB. A Signalink works fine on the same Pi. The Pi seems to see the device, lsusb sees it and ls /dev shows it is added as ttyUSB0, but it will not appear in the sound card dropdown in Audio Device Settings. I am running Stretch on a Pi 3B. Does anyone know how I can resolve this? Thanks for your help.?
