Re: Using CM108 not decoding Packet

Hi David,
? Thanks ! I had it setup this way "ADEVICE -? plughw:1,0"?
Without the dash in the middle made it worked!? I am using it on a Raspberry Pi.
Thank You ! 73?

Hello Juan,

I noticed it says below "Audio input device for receive: stdin? (channel 0)"?

You didn't mention what operating system you're running this on but ultimately, your direwolf.conf file has an error.? For example on Linux, your ADEVICE line should look like:
--
ADEVICE plughw:1,0
--

Your file might look similar but there might be hidden characters, etc.? Try deleting the entire line and re-type it just in case.

What does it mean? Do I need to set it up correctly on the config file so that?
the TX and RX would be on the (plughw:1,0) (channel 0)??

Please help. Thanks! 73 Lot / k6irf

Using CM108 not decoding Packet

Hi Everyone -?

After you start direwoll but before you run kissattach, please send us the results of the two following commands:

?? ps aux | grep -i kissattach

?? ls -la /tmp/kisstnc

Re: Direwolf web dashboard

Hi David,
so, as far I can understand, you redirected the STDOUT to a log file, right?
My dashboard works on the log file generated when you execute direwolf specifying option "–l" (lower case L) on the command line or using the "LOGDIR" option in the configuration file.
Rather than saving unreadable raw data, in this way the digested parts are saved in Comma Separated Value (CSV) format. The first line has the names of the fields.

chan, utime, isotime, source, heard, level, error, dti, name, symbol, latitude, longitude, speed, course, altitude, frequency, offset, tone ,system, status, comment

Further details are available in the manual.

I hope this helps,

My script parses the Direwolf STDOUT decoded log.? If the detail is in that log, it tracks it.

The csv log seems to mask the complete path and shows only the last repeater station ("heard" column).

I'm not sure what you are referring to here.? Maybe Ross's Grafana based tool?

Hello David,
thank you for the info. Grafana is very interesting, I will have a look at it!
Your script is also very interesting, although it's a sysop tool and the results are not publicly visible.

Re: Kissutil packet documentation

One last question - the remote station (VY1EMO-9) instance of Direwolf? log reports:
ACK message 0m for "VY1EMO-9", BUS
What is the "BUS" part of the message about?

It appears to mean that Direwolf found the symbol for a bus (the vehicle) in the ack message. At least, that's the only reference I can find to that sequence of characters in the Direwolf code. Seems odd to have that in an ack, though.

A message number of 0m also seems odd. It seems like it's probably legal, but I would expect most message numbers to be numeric.

If you can see these ack messages with 'listen', maybe that will help figure out what's really in there. Or you could ask Direwolf (via the command line) to show you the raw packet content.

Martin.

Hello Rick

kissparms -c 1 -p w2lk ... did the trick.

Ok.. that means your stack was still auto-discovering your KISS setup.? If you tried your connection a SECOND time, it would have worked for you without this specific kissparms tuning.

I m now able to connect, send and receive email... another problem has cropped up:
***
as root (su):
kissattach /tmp/kisstnc wl2k
kissattach: /tmp/kisstnc: open: Permission denied

kissattach /dev/pts/3 wl2k
AX.25 port wl2k bound to device ax0

Are you sure there isn't an old kissattach process already running?? Some commands to try:

ps aux | grep -i kissattach
ls -la /tmp/kisstnc

It seems to me there is some strange permission error going on with kissattach /tmp/kisstnc wl2k. If I start direwolf -p as root, kissattach /tmp/kisstnc wl2k works.

Re: direwolf/pat/ax25

kissparms -c 1 -p "radio" ... did the trick.
I have been able to connect, send and receive email using Direwolf/Pat-AX25

Re: Kissutil packet documentation

Thanks, Martin.
I'm aware of those restrictions and I'm sure I have crafted the message as per the APRS spec (and your example). I'm using a Raspberry Pi running Direwolf as a TNC for Xastir to send the message to my test system. I did discover a silly error (mixed up my "message_from" and "message_to" variables ) which your example helped me identify. With that corrected, Direwolf is logging that it sees an ack message, but Xastir is not marking the message acknowledged. At this point it no longer seems like a kissutil question so I'll dig into Xastir to make the next bit of progress.

One last question - the remote station (VY1EMO-9) instance of Direwolf? log reports:
ACK message 0m for "VY1EMO-9", BUS
What is the "BUS" part of the message about?

Re: Direwolf web dashboard

Great job Alfredo!
I was also thinking on something similar, I'll follow the development, hoping to find time to contribute.
All the?best

direwolf/pat/ax25

I am trying to get the Pat Winlink client to run under AX25.
I have set up the axports file and the port binds wl2k (port name) to /tmp/kisstnc, but when I try to make a connection with Pat, I get this error:
*
Invalid transmit channel 8 from KISS client app.

Are you using AX.25 for Linux? ?It might be trying to use a modified
version of KISS which uses the port (channel) field differently than the
original KISS protocol specification. ?The solution might be to use
a command like "kissparms -c 1 -p radio" to set CRC none mode.
Another way of doing this is pre-loading the "kiss" kernel module with CRC disabled:
sudo /sbin/modprobe -q mkiss crc_force=1

<<< Data frame from KISS client application, port 8, total length = 18
? 000: ?80 96 b0 68 8a 9e 86 f4 96 96 68 8e 8e 98 61 3f ?...h......h...a?
? 010: ?86 16 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?..
Invalid transmit channel 2 from KISS client app.
*
Any suggestions on how to proceed?
