Re: Device issues on running direwolf v1.6

HI David and thanks for responding.?

The thing is I added the '-' stuff as an additional test, which we now know failed.

Usually I attempt to start DW with "keithkaiser@dulcinea ~ % direwolf -c direwolf-NEW-VHF.conf¡± which has all of these options that I have attempted one by one, all failed.?But you did say something that got me thinking, you said "It's critical that you have the sound card either properly named within double quotes or using the numbering scheme.¡±?So?I¡¯ve tried putting each of the ADEVICE definitions one by one in double quotes like this; ??ADEVICE \"iMic USB audio system¡± But?I still get this as a response; I¡¯m not sure what ¡°using the numbering scheme¡± means.

Reading config file direwolf-NEW-VHF.conf

Pointless to continue without audio device.

The other definitions look like below, if you have any thoughts please send them my way. And thanks for responding.

Hello Keith,

Your issue stems from the "-" (dash) character on the command line just after the timestamp parameter.? Please see the Direwolf User Guide section 9.1.4 ( ) on how the configuration of your sound card should be done within the direwolf.conf file for OSX.? It's critical that you have the sound card either properly named within double quotes or using the numbering scheme.? You should be able to see either approach by just running direwolf from the command line and the startup text should give you a full list of possible devices.

OSX and Linux on Raspberry Pi are entirely different operating systems.? As such, they will have different configuration for the sound device.

Ps.? You don't have any PTT configured in your direwolf.conf.? This means you won't be able to transmit unless you're thinking of using VOX.? If so, please see Section 9.2.13.1 of the DIrewolf User Guide where it STRONGLY recommends not to do this.? YOU will encounter unsolvable problems.

I¡¯m feeding the output of my IC-7000 to a iMic, the MacBook Air sees the device and I can see the VU meter responding to APRS signals.

I¡¯m attempting to launch direwolf like this;

Notice the?- iMic USB audio system to launch using the iMic,?I¡¯ve also tried each with that conf inside the direwolf-NEW-VHF.conf file you see referenced below.

Below is the response I get, in blue just for quoting purposes.
