Baofeng radios also have terrible TX audio flatness.

with Baofeng radios with programming cables and the issue is on
the Baofeng radio itself.? I've never heard this on Yaesu
radios.? Regardless, good to hear you got things working but you
might have a failing radio or a improperly made cable and this
"iffyness" will probably lead to unreliable packet connections.
