Keypad REL 5. ino
#RELS
Hi all, sorted the reason having issues with sketch and TablesV5.h because I copied the imperial feed as well from xls into Table 5.01.
Now the Keypad buttons will not work so reverted back to RELS 2.0 ino and the keypad works. Is there different Mega 2650 connection with Version 5.0 ino ? Has anyone got the schematic as seemed to misplaced mine |
Hi, Leslie,
I will email you the latest schematic. Originally, I believe we used an analog input on the Mega 2560 and a keypad that, through a resistor network, would provide different voltages depending upon which key was pressed. We found that to be unreliable, however, and changed to separate digital inputs, as you will see in the schematic. I kept the original keyboard and rewired it as digital.? -- Regards, Charlie New Jersey, USA JENNING’S COROLLARY TO THE LAW OF SELECTIVE GRAVITY: The chance of the bread falling with the buttered side down Is directly proportional to the cost of the carpet. |

Hi Charlie thanks you so much for your help. Got the schematic and wired the keypad accordingly with pins 22? to 27. Still no joy, the LCD? shows the splash screen and then to feed but the keypad doesn't work.?
I am wondering if the? schematic is applicable for Version 5 ? Anyway I can revert to V2 and as said before works OK but I have to refigure the keypad back . Meanwhile best regards |

Hi, Leslie,
The schematic I sent you, dated? 26-July-2020 in the file name, definitely corresponds to Version 5. I know you have probably done this, but as I mentioned, the original keypad was designed for use with a single analog input. We found this to be unreliable in testing, and so changed to the digital design. However, if you wish to retain the original keypad and operate it digitally, it must be modified by the removal of all the internal resistors shown in the very original schematic fragment below. As the internal pull-ups are activated in the ATMega 2560, there is also no need for the +5 volt connection at all. If you have not removed these resistors, or if the +5 volts is still connected via the 2K resistor, this could be the problem. I would suggest as a simple test that you disconnect the keypad entirely. Take a single, push-button switch and connect it between pins 25 and 27 on the 2560. After power up, pressing this key repeatedly should cause the display to shift from the Feed screen to the following screens in sequence. If it does, then the problem is the keypad. If it does not, then the problem is elsewhere. Please let us know how you make out. -- Regards, Charlie New Jersey, USA JENNING’S COROLLARY TO THE LAW OF SELECTIVE GRAVITY: The chance of the bread falling with the buttered side down Is directly proportional to the cost of the carpet. |
Hi, John,
"Any reason why these and other schematics aren’t posted in the files section of the groups.io site?" Actually, I had thought that they were posted. I was surprised when Leslie asked for them. We will likely take care of it in the days to come. My priority was to help Leslie get his installation working. -- Regards, Charlie New Jersey, USA JENNING’S COROLLARY TO THE LAW OF SELECTIVE GRAVITY: The chance of the bread falling with the buttered side down Is directly proportional to the cost of the carpet. |
Hi, John,
It looks like John Lindo beat me to it and the schematic has already been posted. As a point of information, this schematic is not unique for Version 5, but is valid for all versions 3 and later, IIRC. -- Regards, Charlie New Jersey, USA JENNING’S COROLLARY TO THE LAW OF SELECTIVE GRAVITY: The chance of the bread falling with the buttered side down Is directly proportional to the cost of the carpet. |
Hi Charlie thank you once again Regards Les
