ELS Completed #RELS

Hi, Les,

I used a different cross-slide connection approach, suggested by John Lindo, and made an adapter which slid over the lead screw and is pinned to it.? I think the attached photos are self-explanatory.? IIRC my shaft is 10 mm.? This created another issue, in that the larger coupling did not quite clear the cross-slide, requiring me to machine a pocket for it.

Hi Charlie you made a neat job on the cross slide. I was lucky that the shaft on my shortened? Nema 23 was 8mm so I could just clear using a smaller coupling without machining a pocket and as I mentioned before I drilled the end of the lead screw 8mm in about 15mm? and loctited a 8mm coupling shaft about 2" long and? filed a flat on the end for pinning?

Regards Les

Les,

There are generally a lot of different possible solutions to the same "challenge".? (When I was working, my boss would always ask me about the "challenge".? I finally figured out that if you weren't the one actually doing it, it was a "challenge".? If you were the one doing the work, it was a "problem"!)? It looks like we both have perfectly workable solutions.

Reference our ELS post currently in the "digitalhobbyist" forum.
It should be noted that this early system was the work of a Russian engineer, and
has no common bond with other manufacturers of ELS systems, not that I am aware of.
I may consider changing the hash tag #ELS to #RELS (Russian ELS) .
I will discuss this with my moderators.
Hats off to the hammer and sycal. Clever guy. Well done and of course Envy envy.
I must add, those without this ELS system, are well what?can I say, without. but as
we say, from a great detective TV program Inspector Morse, he had a sergeant Lewis working for him, and he did all the investigations?
and tracked down the villains, while Insp Morse drinks his beer in pubs, and relaxes with the music of Mozart, and is regularly known to say to Lewis ,?
well you have all the clues so " GOWIL" (get on with it Lewis) and solve it, I am busy LOL.Is this delegation ??
So forum members, if you like ELS, GOWIL. I just love acronyms?
Thanks
John (owner).

I hate acronyms!!

Actually I hate people using acronyms without giving any thought to if people will recognize them, acronyms should be defined on first usage.

I like how Charlie has defined #hashtags for this forum.

I would prefer #RELS in deferment to John Danmayer original usage.

John,

I converted the #ELS hashtags to #RELS.? But I would like to give credit where it is due; does anyone know the name of the Russian engineer who first developed the RELS software?? I would like to add it to the hashtag definitions.

It would be nice to include links to any downloads, all in one spot, imagine.
