John,
Nice job.? Once I get the RELS sorted out, I will have a little time and will start printing some of these type of boxes for various issues around the shop.? I know you have containers for your chucks, among other things.? If you have time, might you list the shop-related items you have printed?? It could give others some ideas of what to do in their shop. -- Regards, Charlie New Jersey, USA MURPHY'S CONSTANT:?Matter will be damaged in direct proportion to its value. |

Hi Tamra
Welcome to the forum. I assume you are referring to 3D printing of a lid and base for holding some involute gear cutters.?? File creation approx 1 1/4 hours for both, I use Mastercam to develop the CAD and convert to STL. I use Slic3r for the gcode generation. 1.5 and 2 refer to the Metric module of the gears.? Imperial commonly known as the DP, diametrical pitch.or basically the size of the gear. 20 DP being very common with a pressure angle of 14 1/2 degrees. For comparison, a? #1 module is equal to 25.4 DP.? a # 2 is 12.7 DP. pressure angle 20 degrees. If you have a passion for making your own gears, we can help you start on this forum. A good text book is from the Workshop Practice Series. # 17 Gears and Gear Cutting by Ivan Law if you are new to this important part of out Bobby. Thanks ? Mod 1.5 -- John |
