Hello, All,

In order to aid in searching for a given subject, it would be helpful if you could please include one or more of the following hashtags at the end of your Subject line, if they apply.? This list is current as of 10/25/19.

#3D - Posts related to 3D printing
#ARD - Posts related to Arduino single-board microcomputers
#CAD - Posts related to CAD (Computer Aided Design)
#CNC - Posts related to CNC (Computer Numerical Control)
#CSS - Posts related to CSS (Constant Speed Control) in lathes
#DRO - Posts related to DROs (Digital Readouts)
#ESI - Posts related to ESI (Electronic Step Indexer)
#GR - Posts related to Gear Reduction for the mini-lathe
#LATHES - Posts related to lathes
#MILLS - Posts related to milling machines
#MISC - Posts related to miscellaneous subjects
#MODS - Posts related to machine modifications
#RELS - Posts related to RELS (Russian Electronic Lead Screw)

Hashtags may be added quickly by selecting the appropriate ones under "Add Tags", the line now immediately following the Subject line.

Please note that the Groups.io system imposes a limit of five (5) hashtags per Subject.? More will be added as becomes beneficial.? Please feel free to suggest any that you think are useful.

Thanks!

I will add this to some of our existing posts to aid in future searches.? Thanks!

I am not sure I understand what you are doing with the Hashtags?

Hi Ralph!

Apparently I am in the same boat, as #hashtags are new and somewhat foreign to me and not part of my generation. Hashtags are a means of sorting or filtering out what you want to read...if you love ELS but hate discussions of #3D printers, you can use the hashtag to keep your eyes from being offended by topics that may not pertain solely to ELS. Or at least that's my understanding.

#Hashtags remind me of pointers in C in that they point to the various topics.

As for suggestions of another #hashtag, even though we are not there yet, I think #ARDuino might be a good one. It appears that an Arduino is at the core of the ELS, and if so, you will likely have to know how to compile the code without errors and upload it to the Arduino.

Excellent suggestion. Now we need someone who knows what they are doing
with #ARD!

Hi, Ralph and Eddie,

Hashtags are used here almost like keywords, and are an effective way for you to see all posts and/or topics on a certain subject.? For example, if you wish to view all posts involving ELS, you can display only those with #ELS hashtags.? When in the Message section, there are buttons that read, "Topics" or "Messages", "#Hashtags", and "Search".? (See button circled in red below.)? If you then click on the "#Hashtags" button, you can select any of the active hashtags and only those Topics or Messages will be displayed.? By selecting "#ELS", for example, only #ELS Topics/Messages will be displayed.? I hope this helps!??

#ARD is a great idea, and I will add it.

oh well I read everything so the hashtags don't really mean anything to me.

Maybe if I wanted to search old post they might help.

They should make it easier to find specific info on subjects of interest, rather than having to wade through everything.

good point, and the Arduino is at the core of many 3D printers.
