Confused of Cheltenham writes -- I am obviously missing something in translation! Why do you want to use a (apparently not cheap) ball nosed tapered carbide cutter on a lathe? Surely it would be more

I could make a boring tool holder for 1/4" router bit and use their tool post?? I will have to mill or file a flat side on the round stock.? I really like my Whiteside SC64 bit... it works so

I am relieved that I found the sherline standard toolpost that came with the machine, and they have one that will allow use of a 3/8" round bit, but not 1/4" and my router bits are 1/4".

Been there done that. Even went as far as to turn it into a pattern for casting. But never did cast it. Not sure why¡ John Dammeyer Sent: April-09-20 10:39 PM To: [email protected] Subject:

To follow on with Tamara's recent post ref QCTP and holders and profile tools. A photo of a 250-000 QCTP tool holder 3D printed in ABS: I don?t recommend this approach for holding turning tools

I would use ABS because of past experience. I have a Ryobi table top band saw that I had bought when I was newly setting up my hobby shop. I realized that it's blade speed was meant for cutting wood

Thanks. I like this idea. I saw a couple of videos already. I want to try. The main reason for 3D printed was because I have access to good printers and it is fun to make it differently than the usual

I tend to agree with Cornelius, but it would be interesting to find out for certain. One of the weaker aspects of an FDM part is the bonding between layers. If you were to print the pulley flat it

Put round bit in square stock, Mike this makes sense.... hmmmm... the Whiteside bit is 1/4" round, should be easy enough to drill a 1/4" round hole in square stock... Bill, I do not have a boring bar

It is very easy to cut an internal keyway on a lathe with just a boring bar and a single point cutter. Set it up on the toolpost , center it , and then do the cutting by moving the saddle in and out

Do you have a boring bar toolholder for your lathe? That and possibly some sleeve collets should let you mount a router bit in your lathe. I put an AXA clone Quick-Change tool Post (QCTP) on my Atlas
