If any consolation to getting Covid-19 now, i believe the expert consensus is even in the best-case scenario that there aren't really any further "legitimately scary variants" that pop up, the virus will become endemic and float around in the general population with occasional flare-ups pretty similar to other flu and cold viruses, and so you'd like get it sometime in the next year or two anyway, since society/you will be continuing to reduce distancing and other spread-prevention mitigations, etc.
