Wooo

A lot to " unpack" and you can add that phrase to the things you hate list.

Questions..

What was dangerous for kids about your podcast? Anything specific?

What was your 5% of fault? Related to the massage comment or something else? The podcast?

I never knew one can't drink around their kids. What are they complaining about? What's the difference between drinking when kids are inside or outside??

Your lucky that investigation went well. Kids can say anything and there is no way to disprove the allegations.?

It's just " he said, she said " and child services always argue ...why would the child make that up? And it's stacked against the parent/adult and in court one can't cross examine the child or really challenge their allegation.

?I really hope you get that San Diego job. I would argue best city in North America. Would others agree? Todd?

Namibia is beautiful. Great for a long vacation, But lacks a lot of basics for making living there desirable. Some of the best safari opportunity on the planet which would be cool for the kids.

If it were me I would ask expats there about any racial tensions and being a target for crime or harassment.

Glad you are happy buddy!?

Keep us posted

Andrew

Subject: [dannysic] New Additions to My List of Philosophies / New Gossip
?
Hello there everyone,

I'm drinking cold white wine in the New Jersey sunshine?in my backyard and it is fucking amazing. Hurrah to global warming at this moment or whatever is causing this. I need this. Oh, and there are no kids here at the moment, not that I don't love them. Sandra's grandmother died. They are in Canada.

So I guess about two months ago I was hit with three things within the same week or so.

1. My job is downgraded.

There is a long story here and I won't claim that I am 100% blameless, but at its heart I think what I have realized after working in four for-profit schools over the past six years: they suck. Who would have thought that as INSANE as the school I was in Morocco from 2014 - 2016 it would have been my best experience?

Though I can stay at my job 'indefinitely' it is no longer as Head of School. There's a new one of those.?

I'm almost completely over it.

So this means that I am in the process of applying for new jobs.

As of right now there are two strong prospects:

1. The San Diego Jewish Academy

2. The Windhoek School in Namibia

I've applied for tons. I also have a very eager headhunter working for me with Southern Teachers, so we might end up moving to somewhere like South Carolina or Kentucky.

As for my exact blame for my job I give myself 5% blame.? 47.5% the pandemic. 47.5% my boss.

2. Kids Listen gave me a warning.

So not that you give a crap, but my Little News Ears is in 'Kids Listen,' which is like an 'elite' group of kids podcasts. Mick Sullivan, who does the show The Past and The Curious, which is a really known?show, told me that one of my shows was too potentially harmful for kids. So I revamped (this show is called Just Vote Moms...two bickering animal-men ...one kind of a southern asshole and one kind of a gayish international white rhino talking about politics) and I think I solved this one.

3. We are being investigated.

I mean, that's an exaggeration, but Sandra called me in tears a while back and said that the Department of Social Services is going to investigate a claim that was made by a parent of one of Caspian's classmates at school.

I couldn't imagine what it was...until I knew it was about Caspian I pictured it was somebody in our neighborhood complaining that we were drinking a beer outside of our house as Caspian and Sky were playing in the front 'yard.'

But as it turns out, and I do remember when Caspian said this, one day at school he, or one of his friends got him to say, 'My Dad gave me a butt massage.'

I remember when he said it at school. I winced and told him not to make jokes like that.

But it doesn't change the fact that he said it. A parent phoned it in. We were interviewed... a few times Caspian was asked by the social worker, 'Did your father ever give you a butt massage?' and he said YES. Just kidding. He said no.

But holy shit.

And so anyway, with these three big things, if you don't know this about me yet.....I HATE when it gets dark and cold. I HATE not being able to go to the beach once a week. And so I've been pretty down of late.

So I woke up yesterday morning and added to

  • 51. Don't depend on an artistic enterprise--be it writing a book, making a film, launching a website--as being even a CHANCE of fame and fortune. Do it because you believe in it. Because you love it. It could be the most amazing thing in the world and still people may not want to see it or pay money for it. Never give up, but think of it as a small local theater you have started in the area. It's a good thing.
  • 52. Be humble and accept what the world gives you.
  • 53. If you have everything you want in life and you know that getting an animal will make you happier and keep you happier, get one.
  • 54. Don't depend on your children's successes or love of you to make you happy. You can't control who they are and what they do.

So that's right. We will get a dog when we move somewhere.

I love you all. Want to meet together Thanksgiving weekend sometime? Or before Xmas? Let me know.
