Daniels Electronics CI-MP-4-00 Questions 9
Howdy y'all, I purchased an HP spectrum analyzer a few weeks back at auction and it came with the Daniels Electronics "Radio Programming Interface Module." I know next to nothing about it and couldn't find any super clear answers about what specifically it programs or any manuals. It came with this ethernet looking cable and an RS-232 looking cable (although I'm assuming they are wired up in a non-standard pinout). I generally stick to metrology and equipment repair (primarily HP, Fluke, BK, etc) so this is very much not a company or realm in which I have any knowledge. First question - is this thing still useful? What is it used for exactly? Second question - how would I test it to see if it actually works? I mean, I don't have any reason to assume it doesn't since the other equipment I bought with it is fully functional. Third question - what is this worth to someone who would/could use it? Odds are I probably have no reason to keep it, so I would definitely be open to selling it if someone is interested

I tried to post the firmware update 5
The groups i/o won't let me send the early MT-4 firmware through, and.... I don't seem to be able to upload files to the Group. It's a 2MB exe file... Anyone got an idea how to best make it available? Your turn Tuna Salads

firmware follow up question 4
Hello quiet group, Nobody wrote or said a thing after I posted the older firmware update. Did any of you try it yet? and have good/bad results? Does red wine go with fish? Elvis Presley wants to know. thank you

that's it for the firmware work... for now.
Okay groovy gals and guys... I'm assuming everyone sees the firmware file download link in my last post. So, I'm going to check that off my doo-doo (to-do) list and move on to the next train wreck. IWCE time is here, so we're now getting things ready for that event. Already a busy year and it's just getting started... Be well Tuna Salad

MT-4E Frimware and software 8
I did a little searching around but didn¡¯t come up with anything. Is there a matrix of which firmware to which software should be used with the MT-4E modules. I have a MT-4E UHF RX that I tried to read with the current RSS. I got a message that the firmware needed to be updated. I then did the firmware update but now the module isn¡¯t responding. I recall I had this issue with a module a few years ago. I did the update but there was some sort of mismatch with the UBD board. I had to send back to Codan for repair. It wasn¡¯t cheap! Before I mess any more modules up I want to see if there is a chart/matrices/list of what firmware goes with what software. Also I would be interested in getting copies of different firmware, and even software. TNX Jim.

MT4E Paging Transmitters 3
I¡¯m modifying one of the paging txs that showed up on eBay a few months ago back to normal operation. I was able to compare all the jumper settings (really just solder bridges) to a normal MT4 and change those. There are quite a few of those to change. There are also a couple changes in the module programming as well. I¡¯ll post a listing when I have completed the change successfully. That said, there must be some other mods needed that I am missing. Is suspect there are some parts removed/added/value changes that need to be completed. Here why I think that- while the module does provide generally correct voice modulation, it¡¯s heavily limited and does not provide full deviation when programmed to either 12.5 kHz deviation or 25 kHz deviation. Both are highly clipped and max out at about what would be 60% or so of the modulation from a standard module. So the request here is: does anyone have details of what other changes Daniels/CODAN made to modules intended for paging? The paging modulator manual makes reference to modifications but I cannot locate details anywhere. If you have a copy of any documentation on the modified MT4E it would be be great to see that. If you have successfully modified a paging tx it would be great to get the details! K7SLB

Help on MT3 receivers fitted with internal CTCSS decoders 10
Greetings. Does anyone in the group have any documentation on how CTCSS decoders are wired when installed inside the MT3 series receiver modules? These are sometimes found when you have racks of receiver modules. The dedicated receiver sub racks don¡¯t allow for install of the AC3 audio modules and instead can have five receivers and a SM card. If you want CTCSS or DCS decoders it gets done in the module itself. I probably could figure it out but there are a LOT of jumpers to figure out! Thanks for any help. Spencer K7SLB

Next question for the group - low band noise blankers 2
Another "has anyone seen this" question: I ended up with some MT3 series low band receivers that have RF noise blanker modules installed (though the previous owner had disconnected them). Has anyone run into these before? And does anyone have any documentation on these modules? I don't see anything in the low band receiver manuals... Lastly if you are using any of these receivers are you using the blankets and how well do they work? My experience with Motorola LB bases is that these always get disconnected. -Spencer Get Outlook for iOS

Controller connections 5
Howdy all We were gifted a bunch of Daniels stuff and I was asked/voluntold to figure it out so we could possibly use it in our system With what I have figured out may be of some help to others. So far I have tried these connections with Link Com RLC's, Arcom RC-210, and Hamtronix Electra 2500 controllers, so far all work well. We acquired SR39-1 cages with type 84, 50016-02 backplane boards, UT 4E-450 analog TX modules, UR 4E 460 RX modules. COR...Jumper JU6 Cor Mon for around 3 volts of Cor high Most of my connections were made at Aux Control P2 B6--PTT B8--Cor B10--RXA Disc Audio TX Audio was made at Z4 on J2 TX module TXb mic to TXA line, or can be had B20 on the Aux Control TXA dir mod line GND--picked that up on the terminal strip on the top right of the back plane There may be other combinations but this works for me, hope this helps some others Steve KC7YNS

MT4 D Programming 15
Hi all, Trying to program some MT4 modules but am not having any luck. I read in the manual that when all the cables are connected and you turn on the module to norm, the power light on the RPI is so post to come on. On mine the Data light is luminating and no power light is lite. I try to do a read or a write and the thing times out with no communication to the module. I have tried usb to serial adapter and serial cables and no luck yet. Have tried 2 pc's as well. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks Devan VE7LSE

MT3 low band to 6 meters 3
Greetings. New to the group here. I have a pair of high split low band modules I have been trying to move to six meters. I made a spreadsheet that calculates the dip switch settings for up to 54 MHz and followed factory info on adjusting VCO and alignment. I have taken a look at most of the recent threads concerning moving modules up and interestingly have found the receiver tunes fine for me, with ok though not perfect sensitivity, but my tx power output is very low as I get to the frequencies in the middle of the six meter band. Like 500 milliwatts. I assume this is the tx low pass filter coming into effect. I have heard that there are some simple mods to the LP filter to adjust the cut off frequency upward. Can anyone offer details of the filter mods? Thanks! Spencer - K7SLB

MT-3 receiver hysteresis
I have a several MT-3 receivers that I can't get the hysteresis POT to function the way it is supposed to. I have read the manual on how to set the squelch threshold and then the hysteresis . Setting the threshold is no problem. But I can't get the hysteresis to go beyond 2db. Anyone have any hints that they would like to share? tnx Mike VE7SML

Daniels/Codan parts 5
Howdy all I am looking for a source of parts, specifically the RJ45 cables and cage/rack block off plates. I am putting together 3 machines through a Daniels multi-link controller for a solar site we were given space in. looks like I can use cat 5/6 cables to interface the radios to the controller. I also assume I can feed the controller with 13 volts even though it is tagged 9.5 volts on the controller. thanks
