party!! on Sunday!!!
hi everyone!
Please click on the GOING part of the Facebook event if you are attending the party.? We need to get a headcount and it would help if we know what side you will bring.? You can type it in the responses to the party.? Please confirm by Wednesday so we can order BBQ.? Nancy Hawley, Pat and Susan you guys show up on the interested list, not as going, so please switch your designation if you can come.? Please RSVP by Wednesday so we have a good count for the food!
You will need to go to Helen's HOUSE not the Italian restaurant.? Her address is 127 Maier Rd , Pilot Point 76258.
Please bring your own drinks, and if you have an EZ up type tent please bring it to share.??
You'll also need the usual, chair, water for your dog, etc.? Pack for a dog show and you'll be fine.
No gift exchange, but we will be playing some dog games, so put your thinking cap on!? We will be doing a version of rally where each person coming submits a "station!" Please bring on a regular sheet of paper a "task" for the dog/handler to do!? ? These can be as simple as "shake hands" or complicated where the dog/handler has to execute a series of maneuvers.? Be creative!
Can't wait to see you!

All of you folks who are planning on showing in agility on Sunday, the club needs help with volunteers.? It takes approximately 12 people to run an agility ring, and do we need help!??
Some jobs are warm bodies?
? ? ? ? bar setters- who fixed dropped bars between dogs and change jump heights
? ? ? ?leash runners--wait until after dog has started the course, put leash in finish bucket.
Other jobs require small skills:
? ? ? ?Gate steward: read the next 5 or 6 names aloud (LOUDLY) off a preprinted list as the gate so the? ? ? ? ? ??? ? ? ? ? ?people? know who should be getting ready
And some require a few skills (WHICH ARE VERY TEACHABLE AND WE ARE HAPPY TO DO IT)
? ? Timer( babysits the electronic timer and tells the scribe the dog's time for each run).? Presses the GO?
? ? button when the judge and scribe are ready to begin?
? ? Scribe: writes the number of faults on the line next to the dog's name.? Here how the faults are scored
? ??One hand raised – 5 faults (knocked bar, handler intentionally blocking, etc.)?
? ?Two hands raised – 10 faults (missed contact, off course, etc.)?
? ?Two hands lowered crossed in front of body – 20 faults (unsafe execution, failure to perform,
etc.)? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Elimination signal –
? ??Elimination (Can vary depending on judge. Most judges make a hand
motion across their throat or blow a whistle.)
So a dog's score looks like this
Rocco? ?(Australian Shepherd)? ?Time 36.45? Faults 5, 5, 10??
Patch (Cattle Dog)? Time 40.08? ?Faults??
Kizmet (Lab) Time 68.47? Faults 20, 10, 5, 5, 5,?
Lucky ( All American)? Time : NT (No time)? Faults:? E (Eliminated)
Timer and scribe sit beside each other, so we can help you learn!? Please give it a try.
Please remember that there is a 10 food "zone" around the ring where you can't have treats or toys.? This zone exists in theory at AKC though it is blatantly disregarded.? It is HEAVILY enforced.? Do not take food or toys close to the ring.??
Please please please volunteer.? It's not scary and we need the help.? We'd appreciate it!? Some classes are super small, so you are only committing for 20 minutes of your time, and it makes the trial work!? Thank you!!!
