Re: Backing up podcasts
I do believe though that with the stream and the Trek you can reach the internally stored files podcasts etc via USB but I think you have to connect a stream to a USB port before switching on.

someone has suggested that maybe the stream and the Trek should be able to save files directly to a SD card. I can see though that some sort of warning to keep the SD card in place or to have one in the slot would have to be Incorporated for this to work without a lot of calls to support. This is why I think some sort of find command on the Trek would be a useful addition in a future update. It can be quite hard looking through the many podcast too if you use Windows Explorer to locate the one you are after. Ray. Regarding the podcasts, I cannot see where the stream stores the saved podcasts, when I go through the podcasts they are not in order of podcast feeds but are in alphabetical order. I put my sd card in pc but cannot find the saved podcasts on there. When I had my stream fixed a couple of years ago, they just replaced the board, this is cheaper in some respects than buying a new stream mind you not if they charge an hourly rate. They will be saved in a folder with the podcast title. Then, either connect your Stream via USB cable or remove the card from your Stream and use a card reader to copy them to your PC. I've found transferring data from the card is quicker than having the Stream plugged into the USB port. Yes, I can confirm they don't mix with water. I have mine on my bedside cupboard at night and my water bottle fell over and flooded the Stream's silicone case. When I phoned HumanWare I was told it could not be repaired and I had to buy a replacement. The good thing is it has twice the internal memory, 5.77GB. Best wishes, Clive Pallett |

Trek now appears to have righted selecting BBC National stations
Here to report that, as of one or two days ago, my VR Trek is now able to repeatedly select and stream BBC national streams here in the uK.? I won't repeat the symptoms of the problem I was having except to say moving between these streams is, at the moment okay, if with the slight waite sometimes to latch onto newly selected streams.
Why this has corrected itself is a puzzle; I've done nothing to bring this about.? That leaves me wondering if somehow Humanware can do things at their server to change the former behaviour for the better.? Quite what HW does, or can do, apart from rolling out new firmware downloads and playlists, I don't know. I know that with AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) the BBC and other broadcasters can optimise the rate of streaming according to the bandwidth of the internet connection being used by the listener. This may account for the sometimes slower connection to these services. Keeping fingers crossed that these UK national streams stay the way they are performing at the moment. Ray. |

This sounds like good news, yes I am sure hw can make changes their end, I assume when we turn our streams on, regardless of the version, mark 2 or treck, it will check for any minor up-dates and implement them if it needs them. Guessing again, if we can download podcasts then we can download minor up-dates, but I assume this happens silently in the background. Keep my fingers crossed for you. It hasn't happened for a while, but in the past there has been a message to plug in the Stream so that an update can be downloaded. You will be guided to follow the spoken instructions. If I can do it, anyone can, haha.

Also, does anyone know for Audible if there is a way, once you have purchased a book that it be automatically downloaded to your computer library so that it can be downloaded to the Stream or Trek? On 2/26/2018 4:34 AM, Debby McCallan via Groups.Io wrote:

I am sorry but I seem to have missed your question regarding audible books, I haven't seen that in a post. I have just checked back through my messages for this thread. Yes I think they will miss that deadline unless a miracle happens. Normally these up-dates come out in the states first or we hear about it on there first. Hope someone can answer the question about downloading Audible books. Ray. |
