Ok Adrian, and I look forward to possibly a slightly busier list
than hitherto.
About the only thing the Milestone doesn't have now that would
certainly interest me is a podcast player.? They would surely be
on to a winner if they incorporated one.
In fact one trick they might put into it would be the ability to
stream podcats rather than having to download them as with the
Stream and Trek.
The Blind Shell Classic 2 can do this although it does lack a
means of skimming through podcasts easily like you can do on the
HW devices.? Another thing the VR players don't support is
chapters.? Given the length of the Mosen at Large Podcasts it
would be useful if I could skip by chapters which of course you
can on some iPhone and smart phones podcast players.
Looking forward to the revampped list.
Ray.

Hi
Ray and all
?
If
you are all for my changing the scope of this group, then I
may need to change a few things on the group website
including the email address, not sure how to do that but it
must be possible. Leave it with me.
?
As
for the milestone Ray, it is a nice piece of equipment, it
is small enough to keep around my neck all day long and not
weigh hardly anything, I use it all the time now, much more
than my vr stream, as they are no longer up-grading the
stream I needed a device that has a future and for me
although it was an expensive gadget, it was definitely a
good investment buying the milestone 312 ace wifi, it has a
lot going for it, it plays audible books, daisy and much
more, it has loads of other features and they are adding
more to it in time.
?
?
?
I support opening up this list for discussion of other
specialist players.? In fact I have more than once talked
about other players.
?
I have considered buying the new Milestone player so thoughts
on it would be good to hear.
?
I have the EVO E12 but it certainly needs updating as there
are bugs in it.? selecting the update feature lead me nowhere
a few months ago so I would say the support for the EVO 12 is
pretty poor.
?
The Stella Trek isn't really a player but a navigation device
with a camera to help finding the exact address you are
looking for.? Remains to be seen if the Trek gets a much
needed new model.? the present Trek is underpowered for what
it is supposed to do.? Quite possible a replacement model
would, or should, include a voice driven interface as well as
the buttons seemingly derided by the smart smart phone set!

HI

The
voices on the evo 10/12 are ivona voices I think, it uses
Amy and others so they are very clear. I know the new
stella treck is far too expensive too, the milestone 312
ace is very good, I am not bothered about the speed of the
voice but as long as I can understand it and I do prefer
the American voices in any case, I use them on most of my
players, some of the english voices are a bit boring. I
use my milestone with a bluetooth speaker too so the
milestone has several advantages over the stream or evo
devices. I have heard that the recording on the evo 12
isn¡¯t as clear as the evo 10. ?

Thanks Adrien. What are the built
in voices like in the Evo 10? My Victor Stream 2 is
nearly 10 years old so I¡¯m looking for a
replacement.
The Stellar Trek that Humanware
have come out with recently is just an orientation
device so perhaps a new book reading device will be
out soon ?
I¡¯ve used a Milestone 312 in the
past and loved it¡¯s small size but found I couldn¡¯t
speed up the voices without them sounding choppy and
it didn¡¯t work at the time with Bookshare files .
Hi Claire
?
Ok this is a good start, this group
is very quiet and as a lot of us use more than one
player it makes sense to open it up to other similar
devices.
?
As for the evo 10, it is a very good
player, it plays probably more formats then the vr
stream mark 2, it isn¡¯t being up-dated I don¡¯t think
because they have recently launched the evo 12. I like
the evo 10 for playing rnib talking books, haven¡¯t used
it for much else, some of it is tricky to set up but
once you get it sorted you can back it up. The recording
quality on the evo 10 is very good, I used it to record
consultations in my surgery a while back and the
recordings are very clear. The only real issue I have
with it is that it is too easy to press the record
button and then lose my place in my book, it is fiddly
getting back to my book especially if it is on the
external memory. Other than that though it is very good.
I have it set up for internet radio, rnib talking books
etc. it has other tools on it too, but haven¡¯t really
explored these.
?
My favourite player right now is my
milestone 312 ace wifi, this is very easy to use once
you get the hang of it and as they are adding more and
more features to it, it is the way to go, they are not
up-dating the vrstream mark 2 so I wanted a player I
could use which would give me more options.
I
Hope this helps a bit Claire. ?

I would be interested to
know your thoughts on the Evo10 and how it
compares with the Victor Stream 2 ?
Hi
?
I was wondering if any members
on here had any objections to opening up this group
for more of the devices we use with our mp3 books,
for example I use the evo10 and milestone 312 ace
wifi as well as my vr streams, it would be good to
have a group for discussing these devices, I know
they are discussed on other groups but as this group
is very quiet, try and open it up a bit. Let me know
what you think.

Good Morning Adrien
Sorry about that, having a
senior moment ?
I have been having problems
accessing my mailing lists following a server
breakdown and just not receiving emails from the
lists I subscribe to.?
Do you know who moderates? the
[email protected]
list?
Kind regards
Henry

Hi Henry
?
That¡¯s not really one for this
group but if you ask on access uk or vigen they may
be better able to answer your question.
