Fix for TNC to repeater/ratflector software
Dan, thanks for the kudos. I think you'll even be more happy that we have been able to make the tnc work DIRECTLY with the ratflector software without needing the TCP/IP "layer". The configuration file is named repeater.config and can be found using windows search. It will be in different locations depending upon which operating system you are running. Anyway, our old configuration was: devices = [('net:192.168.1.147:20011', ''), ('tnc:COM6:0:', '9600')] Remove the extra colon devices = [('net:192.168.1.147:20011', ''), ('tnc:COM6:0', '9600')] And now the TNC works directly with the repeater/ratflector software without TCP/IP. D-RATS not connecting to Hotspot - Wrong protocol?
All, I am trying to connect my D-RATS terminal to my Hotspot (Connected to REF 15C) for testing. I get an error from D-RATS software, stating, "Unable to Connect 10061, connection refused." My setup is this: D-RATS on a WIN7/64 machine(s). Hotspot is a Moencomm GMSK board on a CentOS 5 ircddbgatway system. Software is current as of 1 Jan 14. When I do a netstat on my CentOS machine I see see this: Active Internet connections (only servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:20011 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 9460/ircddbgatewayd tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 28764/sshd udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:20001 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:20002 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:20003 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:20004 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:20005 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:20006 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:20007 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:20010 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:20011 0.0.0.0:* 9490/gmskrepeaterd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30001 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30002 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30003 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30004 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30005 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30006 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30007 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:40000 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:68 0.0.0.0:* 1107/dhclient udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30051 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30052 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30053 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30054 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30055 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30056 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:30057 0.0.0.0:* 9460/ircddbgatewayd But when I sniff the line.. D-RATS email to winlink.org address
8
I'm trying to do something seemingly simple, and it is stumping me: I'm trying to send an email from D-RATS to a CALLSIGN@... W2K email address. I'm not trying to send it *over* winlink from the machine/radio running D-RATS. I'm just sending it as regular email to the W2K email address, just as I might do from any other boring email client, and the W2K system then absorbs it and it should be on its way and delivered. I can do this just fine from gmail using a browser, for instance, email shows up moments later. If I send it from D-RATS, over either RF or the Internet, the email leaves the D-RATS outbox and is sent, however it never seems to show up in the W2K inbox. The email address D-RATS uses for its sender is the very same email address that the gmail account is. Any thoughts?

Sound card modem -- can't set DIGI PATH
Noticed that you cannot set a DIGI PATH on a sound card modem in the D-RATS software. I assume the function works for a TNC port? Just found it odd that it was available on the TNC port, but not the soundcard modem. Best Regards, Jeff Scoville

running local rat proxy not working?
14
I know this is an old subject, but it is beating me about the head and shoulders. I have the d-rats package installed on debian-7 and want to run a local proxy via the internet. (1) router set to forward tcp/udp 9000-9005 to local ip server (2) proxy setup to use k3mmb.shacknet.nu:9000 (k3mmb-11) (3) client on another maching set up to access k3mmb-11 can not get connected. Errono 110 - time out. I know this is a simple thing, but it is driving me nuts any suggestions to fix a users mistake? 73 de mike

Http over TCP forwarding -- is it possible?
Have tried out TCP forwarding with telnet and pop3 email and it works great in D-RATS. Tried the same with http through internet explorer and only got data to go one direction (the request), but never received the web page itself. Has anyone made this work? We're thinking of ham apps that would be accessible via TCP forwarding from a ham server (not an internet gateway). Thanks in advance for any assistance! Best Regards, Jeff Scoville AE5ME

AGW Express, UZ7HO, RMS Express and D-RATS Playing Nicely Together
2
I discovered something kind of neat tonight. I've been playing around with AGW Express - a tool that's purpose is to set up and configure RMS Express, a virtual serial port and AGWPE (or, with the new version UZ7HO's soundmodem app) for Winlink over packet. I really like the new version of AGW Express and its ability to configure UZ7HO's sound modem. While I was playing with AGW Express tonight I had the idea of bringing up D-RATS to try to send D-RATS over packet using UZ7HO Soundmodem. I have successfully used Soundmodem with D-RATS, but not at the same time that I was using Soundmodem for RMS Express. So, I created a new radio port in D-RATS. It is a network port with 127.0.0.1 as the and port 8760 (The port UZ7HO is listening on). D-RATS connected right up, and I can switch back and forth between RMS Express and D-RATS using the same instance of UZ7HO, the same Signalink, and the same radio! I then took things a little further. I have a second PC with D-RATS installed. On that one I created a radio port with the first computer's IP address as the address and 8760 as the port. When I send a message from D-RATS on the second PC it hits UZ7HO on the first PC and out it goes over packet. So, PC #1 is handling it's D-RATS session, it's RMS Express session, and PC #2's D-RATS session. Of course, things would get really confusing if two applications tried to transmit at the same time. And, there is more testing/exploring to be done here. But, this seems kind of interesting...

using D-0rats over ampr.org (44.x)
8
Hello Team, It is with excitement that I share I ahve a ratflector set up and running on the ampr network. The old packet radio / ax25 / IP using the 44.x block. You can reach MB6JP on 44.131.176.33 or from the Internet at xylene.no-ip.biz port 9000 and no passwords The intention is to bridge the ax25 world and the d-star world with one simple interface. If you are interested in peering or exploring ax25 / ampr 44 please do let me know. Thanks and best regards James / 2e1avx / mb6jp

D-Rats for EMA Users
3
Today while our ARES group was deployed with our county EMA in support of an air show our EMA contact asked if we could set up a way to have various internet-connected PC users to chat and transfer files during a deployment or excercise. I showed him D-Rats, and he liked the solution. We talked about setting up a ratflector for the county. One thing he asked, though, deserves some extra thought. Can non-hams use D-Rats? I think he wants dispatchers on the county MCV to have access to it. My first thought is yes, since we are talking about internet connected devices, it would be ok for non-hams to use our ratflector. But, what if we eventually tie in RF connected stations? The radios will certainly have to be operated by hams. But, would we be legal if we had non-hams using D-Rats on internet-connected (not RF connected) PCs set up with tactical callsigns?

Installing and running ratflector on Ubuntu

I just followed the instructions for installing D-RATS on an Ubuntu server and it looks like it installed okay. I want to configure a ratflector from command line and have it startup automatically at boot. Anyone with instructions? John WB4QDX

Gateway/Ratflector
2
I am really new to D-Star and D-Rats. I am setting up a new repeater for D-Star, but would really like to have the ability for users that do not have a D-Star radio to connect to a gateway or ratflector and talk to those using D-Rats via RF. My main concern is that I don't want to Tie up a radio just to have a link to the internet for these users. Is there a way to run a gateway or ratlfector software on the computer that is connected to the repeater itself to make this easier? I am using the G4KLX repeater and IRCDDB Gateway. ID-880 Settings for D-DRATS
3
I'm trying to get D-RATS configured for the first time with my ID-880H. Every site that I see about this combination says that I must set the radio value DVT=DVTAT. I have found all the other recommended settings on the radio, but not DVT. Thoughts?
