What is the purpose of entries in Preferences/Email access? Do you have to list all stations that will send you an email if you have internet connectivity and SMTP/POP properly set? I think not. I posted this originally on the D-STAR group, and I'm moving it here to what seems like a more appropriate place. Sorry for the cross post. I've got a ratflector set up on PC on my LAN, and have been playing around trying to learn more about D-RATS. The setup is as follows. PC #1 runs D-RATS with either an RF connection to the ratflector over my 92AD or a network connection. PC#2 is running the D-RATS repeater app and D-RATS. It is connected via RF and/or network. PC#2 has a check by "Connected to Internet". SMTP turned off on PC#1. SMTP is set up correctly on PC#2 and it is set to forward messages. I am 100% confident that the SMTP server settings are correct, and I can connect to the SMTP server from this PC. I've confirmed that. I have an Email Access rule in place for my email and call sign. I can connect from PC#1 to PC#2 over the local network, and I can chat and send files. I have I can send an email from PC#1, telling it to Send Via PC#2. The message shows up in the D-RATS inbox on PC#2, and the message at the bottom of the screen says it is forwarding it. However, it never hits the internet, and it never clears from the outbox on PC#2. I also tried creating and sending an outbound email from PC#2. It is never delivered and sits in the outbox until I delete it. I ran Wireshark on PC#2 watching for packets going to my mail server, and I never see anything attempt to connect to that IP or port. Strange thing is I had this working a couple of days ago. I know I did something to break it, but can't "un-break" it. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this further? What causes D-RATS to attempt a connection to a SMTP server via the internet instead of trying to pass mail through the radio links? Dan W4DTO

In the TO box I put WL2K:<callsigh>, then in the subject line I put WL2K//Test via Telnet. After putting the email into the Outbox, I . clicked the Send/Receive, Outbox to Send the email. It returned an error box of "Unsupported 16-Bit Application: The program or feature "&#92;??&#92;C:&#92;Program Files (x86)&#92;D-RATS&#92;libexec&#92;LZHUF_1.EXE" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available. Does this mean Windows 7 won't work? Spike

Replacing the 32-bit file with the 64-bit file does indeed work for the Winlink email problem. Once I made the replacement, I heard the email sound and an email I had sitting in the outbox was no longer there but in the Sent Box. Now if we can just figure out the RF side. Spike

On the File " Using_D-RATS_with_your_D-STAR_radio.pdf ", what is meant by the "Turn off the TX message on your DSTAR radio as it uses bandwidth that could be used to transmit DRATS data." Do I select a line with nothing in it, or is there an on/off switch somewhere in the IC-2820's Menu? I am trying to send email via the radio RF. Spike

I was able to do a D-RATS to D-RATS connection today using AGWPE as the radio port. Worked fairly well. Now, I am trying to add the AGWPE definition to the D-RATS repeater app. I have it set up in the repeater app exactly as I did in D-RATS initially. I have D-RATS set to connect to the repeater. AGWPE is listening on port 8000. D-RATS is listening on 9010. With AGWPE defined this way the repeater app doesn't appear to start. D-RATS cannot connect to it. And, telnetting to it from a command prompt on port 9010 doesn't show it attempting a connection. If I delete the AGWPE setup from the repeater app and restart everything D-RATS connects to the repeater app. But, with AGWPE defined it will not connect. Any ideas why? Has anyone done this? I'm running the latest daily build of D-RATS. Thanks! Dan W4DTO

I am at aloss with setting up email on the RPi, smtp setup: Gateway enabled smtp server smtp.comcast.net port 587 ttl checked source blank user name k3mmb@... password ** POP (incoming) server pop.comcast.net username k3mmb@... password * poll interval 2 port 995 action form enabled THis is wheezy installed from scratch, python stuff loaded ... Thanks all, I beat it into submission last night. I watched the command line window as it was processing email. The issue was my use of a fully qualified email id in the setup. In windows, I sign on to the comcast servers as k3mmb@.... D-Rats uses the userid filed as the address appended to the server name. So, the program was asking for authorization from: k3mmb@[email protected] (or smtp). Changed the usered id to just my callsign and everything now works. Apparentaly the OS and D-rats are not using DNS to resolve some address. Anyway... we got it working ... now on to the radio part.. 73 mike

DSTARinfo.com and the Georgia D-STAR group will again conduct training for beginning and intermediate D-STAR users during Dayton Hamvention 2013. Can someone please tell me what they are. I have been trying to pass data with friends that have these radios. I can receive their data but they don't receive mine. I have an 880H and a 92AD. I can successfully transfer data between users of 880H's, 92AD's and dongles. Your help is much appreciated. 73 KC2YYF

I can get outbound emails to send through SMTP port 587; however, outbound emails never go using SMTP / SSL port 465.
