Sending email from d-rats
John, I have been working through similar issues, but found this document very useful and now have D-RATS talking back and forth to the CMS of Winlink with no issues. I am still working on using the SMTP/POP capability as I would like to "connect" with the local RMS Relay (that I run in-house) for times when the internet goes down. But to use when working directly to the Winlink CMS, this document will help a great deal. 73, Mike Crabtree - VA3MCT On Fri, 2 Sept 2022 at 11:33, John Garko <wa4kwk@...> wrote:

You may need to check which outgoing mail service you are using.? Google started flagging email connections from D-Rats as an unsecure email client and won't accept messages unless you went in and turned the feature off in your Google account.? Now they just don't care and keep resetting it to block all traffic coming from D-Rats into a gmail.com account.? I switched over to an outlook mail account to try to correct the issue.
Winlink only seems to work if you have a telnet (Internet) connection on your computer.? Make sure your settings and password to Winlink are set correctly. Glen - KG5CEN |
For Winlink emails, you need a Winlink account. It's the only way to get a password that you will put in the Message parameters.
For regular emails I tried three email servers. Yahoo, Google, and my local Freenet. Nothing works. I suspect that the TLS/SSL parameters need to be upgraded by the developers. Guy VE3QC in d--rats. |
