Raspberry PI GURU NEEDED

We need someone that is skilled in Linux that can handhold us through the installation of Linux distros and apt-get inputs to make the DRATS network function under the Raspberry PI platform.

The issue is that most of us are not schooled in the Linux command line inputs to get the job done.

We need Line by Line input commands to help us understand the Linux command line input.

It can get as simple as plug in your Raspberry Pi then wait for the prompt to say>>>>>>>>
input apt-get somthingThatIcantEverHopeToUnderstandButInstructMeNone
TheLess......

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide to the DRATS community!

Dave

All,

Getting D-RATS working on a Raspberry Pi platform is on my "to do" projects list, probably for this weekend. I moved my DVAP to an RPI a few weeks ago and would like to do the same with my ratflector, provided D-RATS is stable enough on that platform. It looks like the D-RATS package are in the repository.

Is there a specific Raspberry Pi image preference we want to start with? If not, I'll probably start out with the image I have my DVAP loaded in.

Hi Dave,

Check the FILES section for a HOWTO document on this subject, and e-mail me if you have questions.

Mike this is just what the doctor ordered. I wonder if you could include the install process of putting the wheezy distro onto the sd card? File locations and such? I realize this is way low level stuff but to us old Windows users it is like Greek. Great Job as I even understand what you suggest in the text! Lets see if I get it running.

Mike,
I use the Debian weezy distribution on my Pi and also you should be able to use the Pi's serial port and not have to connect a USB to serial adapter.

Hi Ed,

I didn't know the Pi had a serial port on it. Thanks!

Looks like its a 3.3V level signals - are you using any interface to shift to RS-232 levels?

Mike,
You are right, the voltage level out of the Pi's UART are 0-3.3V and need to be converted to RS232 levels to be useful.? .? RS232 Level converter kits using the Maxim max3232 chip can be found from a variety of sources, online, search "raspbery pi rs232".?
A ready to go cable assembly can be found on eBay:
I use a .? As you can see there are many ways to skin this cat.
Also the serial port needs to be configured and the user granted permission to use the hardware.? The covers the use of the UART.
