John thanks for the suggestion. Having a built in converter is the way to go. However I am a little confused. If this cable will work for programming and data transfer... Will my OPC-478U do the same?

John, I am pretty sure that ICOM sells a USB version of the OPC-1529. ?It isn't cheap. I built my cable and just use a USB to serial adapter. ?The cable is easy to build and there are schematics
