Re: radio to radio operation

Turn off the power save feature in both of the radios.
Go to D-RATS preferences and make these changes:
Under Transfers, enable "Remote File Transfers".
Set Warmup Length to 16.
Set Warmup Timeout to 0.
Good luck!

Re: radio to radio operation

Hello All:

Thanks to the helpful responses, I now have the 91AD and 92AD working as the radio part of a Drats node. As some folks had noted, baud rate was the issue and at 38K baud both HT Dstar radios connect and pass Drats RF traffic.

I note that some chat and ping messages received by the radios at 38K baud seem to get lost or dropped on the Drats computer screen, and I suspect that at this serial I/O baud rate, the XON/XOFF flow control protocol is loosing effectivity, allowing buffer overflows and lost serial characters. Anybody observing similar packet loss on 91AD 0r 92AD radios?

Thanks,

QST CAP and RSS feed.

I have been trying to get a QST message using the CAP feed working with no luck so far.? Has anyone got a CAP feed message working they would share as an example?? An RSS example too?

I have been able to get QST messages GPS, Weather underground, and text working.

Re: radio to radio operation

Jeff,
It sounds to me as if you are running two computers each with their own radio in the same room. Here are a few suggestions: Uncheck the raw text box as it is not needed with D-RATS to D-RATS stations. Check the port speeds. Most D-STAR radios default to 9600bps. The ID-91 and 92 are 38400bps and the ID-1 is 19200bps. Are your radios in "low speed data" mode? Do both instances of D-RATS have the same callsign? They must be unique. Add a suffix of -1 to one of the callsigns. If you are using USB cables, try manually changing the COM port to the lowest number available. These are a few common issues I see with new users. I hope this was helpful.

Re: radio to radio operation

Which radios? And do you have the radios listed in Email Access?

I am trying to run DRATS radio -to- radio, with Internet and Ratflectord disabled. Radio setup for com port and baud, and port <=> radio tested via programming as OK.

Raw and Sniffer says transmission is received, but no text in Chat or seen in log.

TX Message off, no GPS TX on both radios.

Any thoughts from the group?

Re: radio to radio operation

Hello Mike and Group:

Thanks for the follow-up:

1. Do the radios transmit when D-RATS sends data?

*** Yes - tx and observed reception by the target radio.

2. Does the receiving radio display the call sign and message from the transmitting radio?

*** Yes, I do see the transmitting radio's call at the receive radio, but in the DRATS chat and log screen, I just see CQCQCQ. I have turned TX Messaging off on these radios as I saw a note saying TX messaging may interfere with DRATS chat message bandwidth - so no TX Messaging on receive radio as expected.

3. Is either radio in "power saver" mode? Power saver mode sometimes causes the radio to miss parts of the D-STAR header message as it "wakes up".

*** Nope, power save and auto off features disabled.

4. Is the rf path between the radios good? D-STAR does not provide error correction for the low speed data channel, so if the path is bad you will not get data transfer.

*** I believe rf path is good. DSTAR audio between radios is fine (only 5 feet between radios, but both on low power mode).

You might consider posting your debug.log file so we can see any messages

*** On the logs, rookie response: I don't see any log files in the DRATS directory. I do see the Event Log. How/where might log files be (or be generated)?

Thanks,

I think a bridge between D-STAR and packet radio is an excellent way to show EMCOMM groups the benefits of D-STAR and D-RATS. Thanks for keeping the flags flying during my absence.

I have downloaded files from you in the past, but haven't played
with DRATS in a long time. Your files are helpful.

Re: Fix for tnc tied to D-RATS repeater/reflector

Hello,

?

I just took a look on my pi

?

my ratflector is installed as root user.

?

The file is located

?/root/.d-rats/repeater.config

on another pi ratflector installed as user pi

?/home/pi/.d-rats/repeater.config

?

I also noticed form th d-rats client if you try to attach to the tnc direct the double :: issue

?

change the file

/root/d-rats/d-rats.config

/home/pi/.d-rats/d-rats.config

?

?

Re: Fix for tnc tied to D-RATS repeater/reflector

fantastic...

Arduinos

Has anyone tried to report telemetry from say, an interesting Arduino project of theirs, to d-rats ?

I see a guy reporting solar flux and and another Ham reporting WX conditions frequently on the RATflector... but wondering what else could /has been done...
