Re: D-Rats, Packet, and UZ7HO
开云体育Jeff, I'm struggling to understand this.? Wondered if you could help me a little more.??? I currently have UZ7HO running on the remote PC (with the DRATS client and let's say callsign W4DTO) and the local PC (with the DRATS client and repeater app and call sign W4DTO-1).?? I have both DRATS clients set up with AGWPE:127.0.0.1:8000.?? ???They can talk to each other, but not to the ratflector.???? ? ? Do I keep this setup with your configuration and add a new modem on TCP:127.0.0.1:9000 with a forwarding rule to forward TCP/9000 to W4DTO-1??? Can it really figure out how to get to the AGWPE modem that way????? Do I also keep the AGWPE modem on the ratflector side? |
Re: D-Rats, Packet, and UZ7HO
James, Sounds like you and I have had very similar experiences.? Have you tried MULTIPLE packet clients with all pointed to port 9000?? Just wanted to confirm that the proxy software is robust enough that it can handle the multiple requests.? Probably no more than 2-3 at a time due to bandwidth limitations on 1200 bps, but still better than just "one at a time". Best Regards, Jeff Scoville AE5ME |
Re: D-Rats, Packet, and UZ7HO
Hello, I have had no success using tnc / packet direct with ratfelctor. However if you set up your PC and TNC with IP over ax25, you can run d-rats on top. I have a raspberry pi set up with a tnc connected in kiss mode and the radio interface has an ip address (44.131.176.33) another packet user has the same set up and e can ping over the air and telnet etc... routing all set up. now from the desktop install ratflector (mb6jp) from the other packet station set up d-rats client point it to mb6jp on port 9000 works a charm. moving one step up the OSI layer. My station (ratflector) is xylene.no-ip.biz on port 9000. from an ampr net ip its 44.131.176.33 You can get your 44.x ip address from http://portal.ampr.org? If you want to set up a UDP tunnel to connect in to the UK / my ratflector please let me know. cheers James 2e1avx / mb6jp |
Re: D-Rats, Packet, and UZ7HO
Exactly.? Do step one on the client machine and step two on the "server/ratflector".? The key is you will be running both the client and the ratflector software on the "server/ratflector", as the client software will be translating the RF stuff to TCP for the ratflector to use. Re: D-Rats, Packet, and UZ7HO
开云体育Will be a while before I can test this, but it sounds like excellent news!?? So, step one is for the remote D-RATS client that will be connecting via packet, and step two is for the ratflector side, right? ? ? From:

Of ae5me@... ? ? I think I finally came up with a work-around for the bug in ratflector that keeps TNC and soundcard modems from working with it: ? 1) For the TNC and soundcard modem clients, set them up in D-RATS "like usual", with the following changes.? Set port forwarding on their client software to forward local port 9000 to radio port 9000 to the callsign of the designated person that is running the ratflector software.? Then add a network port (under the radios setting) that goes to 127.0.0.1 port 9000.? That setting makes their network client try to connect to their local port 9000.? Since we've forwarded that port to RF, they will go to the person running ratflector software. ? 2) On the ratflector computer, run both the D-RATS client and the ratflector software.? Set up a gateway that takes port 9000 from the radio to local IP address 127.0.0.1.? Set up ports on the D-RATS client to TNC (or sound card modem), and the local ratflector (on 127.0.0.1 port 9000).? Set up ports on the ratflector to D-star radio and (if you like) another ratflector of your choice (optional). ? The proxied port on 9000 from the packet side will make the D-RATS client talk over port 9000 via RF to the ratflector computer.? The client software on the ratflector computer will forward the RF port 9000 to local 127.0.0.1 port 9000, which is the ratflector.? End result is the packet client is now operating using the "network" port feature, using RF as the intermediary between the ratflector computer and them.? The ratflector software sees them as a D-RATS client working on network and doesn't have to try to set up a TNC connection (since the client software on the ratflector computer is handling that and does not have the same bug). ? Scott KD5NJR and I tested this out and it worked.? Not knowing the particulars of the D-RATS proxy, I don't know how it would handle MULTIPLE client requests.? Perhaps someone of this group has tried that.? I would assume it handles them correctly, but our test was only one client to one ratflector. ? Best Regards, Jeff Scoville AE5ME

Re: D-Rats, Packet, and UZ7HO
Dan, ? Congrats on your test bed setup.? I too have been playing with AGWPE and D-RATS. ? I am using AGWPE with a TinyTracker 4 TNC in KISS.? Works great!!?? I have D-RATS, AGWTracker and RMS Express all running at the same time..? My server is also running D-RATS, AGWTracker and RMS Packet. ? I am running everything over a pair of Alinco DR-235TMKIII's (Yep 1.25 meters).? (GREAT BAND!!)? (p.s.? The built in TNC's EJ-41's are very poor for anything packet related) ?? My next goal is to all my D-STAR Hotspot into the mix on the server. ? D-RATS is great on AX.25 Packet.?? Hopefully the word can be spread enough and some life will come back into packet radio.? A 1200 baud link is still a link. --73 de Doug (N1OBU FN41AN) |

Re: moving on I do have a message question
Thanks... once I go things running, it does really cool stuff.? Adding my dvap, id91 was easy. working on ax25. Has anyone hooked a HF radio to d-rats? I was kicking around looking at putting my ic7200 on the box/ again thanks for sharing the knowledge regards mike |
Re: moving on I do have a message question
You can address it to another D-RATS station and it will use the path (RF or network) where D-RATS finds the target callsign. You can also send it via Winlink.

Re: moving on I do have a message question
开云体育Yes, click New and you will see the ICS213.? You fille in the form and only the data is sent.? It populates the form on the other end for display or printing under html as an actual ICS213 form.? You can also make custom forms and send the template to the other end to repopulate with the data. ? John WB4QDX ? From: d-rats_group@... [mailto:d-rats_group@...]

Re: running local rat proxy not working?
开云体育Try running a d-rats client on another computer on your LAN an try to connect to your ratflector using its local LAN address (the IP address of the PC running d-rats_reflector) and see if that works.? If it does, have someone outside your LAN try and connect using your routers address. Mike, N0SO PS:? Question: you have been selecting "on" each time when starting up d-rats_repeater, correct?
