Re: ID-51A with USB RTS05 cable
Since I started with an ID-91, I have always used that cable as my data cable and it works with every one of my Icom radios for data.

I have used an RTs05 cable with D-Rats for all of my ICOM radios 51A, 880, 5100, ID1 no issues with any of them. -- AL M KF5SMH

Re: ID-51A with USB RTS05 cable
I have a ID-5100, Had the same issue not with just D-Rats. After reading several posts to use, not use the programming cable.I purchased a OPC-2350LU and problem solved. As an Electrical Engineer, I want to crack the guts and see what's different, but it's not a $140 itch. What I learned is, not all DATA cables are created equal.

No, I don't pay attention to this stuff. It's gone because of upgrades, I didn't even know anyone was using it anymore, but I can't put it back where it was easily.

Do not dismiss the cable so quickly. The fact that you can use the programming application proves the cable and the data port on the radio are working. Also be sure the data speeds match. I believe the radio defaults to 4800.
Troubleshooting tip: D-RATS will decode position reports sent by radios. So tune to your local repeater and monitor for a while. Any radios sending GPS data will appear in the station list (if you have it set up correctly).

already public and running on a raspberry pi.??I can’t
guarantee 100% reliability due to things beyond my control,
such as power glitches or outages. (I live in an area prone to
thunderstorms).??However, I do check it often and try to keep
it available.?? is another public
ratflector that is available for use.??Both are subject to
being used for nets on Tuesday night in my case and Sunday
night in the case of SEWX but they are available for use.??I
mentioned the fact that RAT is having a problem mainly because
there are a number of folks out there that install D-Rats and
never venture beyond the one ratflector that is installed with
the program and if that one is off line then they have just
wasted their time for having a functional system.??Everyone
needs to know about the alternatives or how to run their own
ratflector if needed during an emergency in their community.
Keep in mind that most of us are not programmers and some of
us are more technically minded than others.??A few are even
fussbudgets (you probably need to be an old Peanuts fan to
understand that reference) that will complain about
everything, say this technology is worthless, or a waste of
time, etc., because they have not figured out all the bells
and whistles yet.

Re: Anyone know what is going on with the main RAT ratflector?
Hello Everyone,
I emailed Dan Smitch about the default ratflector issues and as you
can see below, it's permanently down.? I did confirm that he's
willing to make DNS changes to point ref.d-rats.com to someone
else's static IP address to resume ratflector service but it will be
on that new group to maintain it going forward.
It sounds like Glen might be willing to host this though maybe an
alternative could be found with more reliable services?

No, I don't pay attention to this stuff. It's gone because of upgrades, I didn't even know anyone was using it anymore, but I can't put it back where it was easily.
If someone wants ref.d-rats.com directed to them so they can take its place, they can contact me, otherwise I recommend people just set up and run some alternative.
