Re: running local rat proxy not working?

Have you tried going into the router and port foward that port to the ip address of the machine your using?

开云体育If your Linux machine is running a firewall try temporarily turning it off. You may need to open those ports in the firewall as well. Mike, N0SO On Jan 7, 2014, at 3:04 PM, <mm.barrett@...> wrote:

running local rat proxy not working?
I know this is an old subject, but it is beating me about the head and shoulders.
I have the d-rats package installed on debian-7 and want to run a local proxy via the internet. (1) router set to forward tcp/udp 9000-9005 to local ip server (2) proxy setup to use k3mmb.shacknet.nu:9000 (k3mmb-11) (3) client on another maching set up to access k3mmb-11 ?can not get connected. Errono 110 - time out. I know this is a simple thing, but it is driving me nuts any suggestions to fix a users mistake? 73 de mike |
Http over TCP forwarding -- is it possible?
Have tried out TCP forwarding with telnet and pop3 email and it works great in D-RATS. Tried the same with http through internet explorer and only got data to go one direction (the request), but never received the web page itself. Has anyone made this work? We're thinking of ham apps that would be accessible via TCP forwarding from a ham server (not an internet gateway).
Thanks in advance for any assistance! Best Regards, Jeff Scoville AE5ME |
Re: AGW Express, UZ7HO, RMS Express and D-RATS Playing Nicely Together
Congrats on your discovery!! I'm discovering the same.? I am using AGW Packet Engine with a PK-96 in KISS.? Then I am using RMS Packet (WINLINK Station) and D-RATS on the same TNC & Radio.? To top it all off..? This is all going on inside of a Windows-7 Virtual Machine in a VMware ESXi Server. Good luck and congrats again!! --73 de N1OBU (FN41AN) Doug |
AGW Express, UZ7HO, RMS Express and D-RATS Playing Nicely Together
I discovered something kind of neat tonight. I've been playing around with
AGW Express - a tool that's purpose is to set up and configure RMS Express, a virtual serial port and AGWPE (or, with the new version UZ7HO's soundmodem app) for Winlink over packet. I really like the new version of AGW Express and its ability to configure UZ7HO's sound modem. While I was playing with AGW Express tonight I had the idea of bringing up D-RATS to try to send D-RATS over packet using UZ7HO Soundmodem. I have successfully used Soundmodem with D-RATS, but not at the same time that I was using Soundmodem for RMS Express. So, I created a new radio port in D-RATS. It is a network port with 127.0.0.1 as the and port 8760 (The port UZ7HO is listening on). D-RATS connected right up, and I can switch back and forth between RMS Express and D-RATS using the same instance of UZ7HO, the same Signalink, and the same radio! I then took things a little further. I have a second PC with D-RATS installed. On that one I created a radio port with the first computer's IP address as the address and 8760 as the port. When I send a message from D-RATS on the second PC it hits UZ7HO on the first PC and out it goes over packet. So, PC #1 is handling it's D-RATS session, it's RMS Express session, and PC #2's D-RATS session. Of course, things would get really confusing if two applications tried to transmit at the same time. And, there is more testing/exploring to be done here. But, this seems kind of interesting... |
Re: D-Rats, Packet, and UZ7HO
开云体育That might work, Patrick, as long as you are connecting it to the D-RATS client and not the ratflector.?? I've not gotten either a TNC or AGWPE interface working on the repeater app.??? I'm interested in the concept I saw the other day on this list about using Paclink as a gateway between D-RATS and Winlink.??
? By the way, the setup for Soundmodem for D-RATS is the same as the way you set up for AGWPE.? Tell D-RATS you are setting up AGWPE.? Let me know if you have trouble with it, and I will be glad to help. ? Another thing on my list is to try RMS Express with Soundmodem.? I've played with it a little, but didn't make it work.?? ?There is supposed to be a new release of the AGWExpress app out (great tool that takes care of configuring the pieces required to hook RMSExpress to AGWPE) this month, and it is supposed to work with Soundmodem.? I'm looking forward to giving it a try.? But, I digress... ? Good luck with Soundmodem on D-RATS. Let me know if I can help. ? Dan W4DTO ? From: d-rats_group@... Just an update on this... ?We have a working configuration of a D-RATS ratflector with packet, DSTAR and internet connection capability. ? I have posted a PDF showing the configuration in the files section. The file name is?D-Rats2_Packet_DSTAR_Internet.pdf. ?
While we have been able to connect packet users into this configuration they are limited in that they can only talk to the D-RATS client app to which they are connected. ? Packet traffic doesn't go out over the ratflector and traffic from the ratflector doesn't get sent to packet. ? This limitation exists because the ratflector app gives an error when we try to create a packet connection directly to it. Following are notes from the PDF. Notes: 1. The D-Rats Client App (PLD-ARES) can?talk to users connected by packet,DSTAR, or internet. 2. Users connected by DSTAR and?internet can talk to each other. 3. Users connected by packet cannot?hear or talk to DSTAR or internet?connected users. 4. Users connected by packet can?communicate with other packet users?who are within RF range. 5. The original configuration used?AGWPE instead of UZ7HO?Soundmodem, but UZ7HO works just as well and seems to be more stable. Dan W4DTO |
Re: D-Rats, Packet, and UZ7HO
开云体育I agree, Leon.?? I emailed Dan about it some time last year.?? His response: ? "Yeah, the AGWPE bit is not supported in the ratflector app at the moment. Not sure it ever will be as I don't think many people actually use it for anything." ? Wish I could change his mind.? I think D-RATS is by far the best designed UI of any of the ham radio apps I have used.??? It would be very easy to sit it down in front of someone who has no experience with the tools (someone involved in an emcomm situation) and quickly train them to communicate with it. ? Other tools are good, too, such as FLDIGI,? RMSExpress, Airmail.?? But, I believe they would require more training of the end user.? ? If AGWPE could be made to work on a ratflector it would provide a very well designed tool to a new group of users.? And, it would sucessfully bridge a gap between DSTAR and non-DSTAR. ? Dan W4DTO ? ? Re: D-Rats, Packet, and UZ7HO
开云体育The DStar/Packet node idea is what I would really like to see, but I don't think it's possible.? I believe there is a bug in the repeater app that causes it to not work with TNCs or AGWPE.???? I played around with that for months and found errors in the repeater log.?? Reported them and asked Dan to help, but haven't gotten anywhere with it.?? ? It is possible to hook a TNC or AGWPE to the D-Rats client app (what I'm doing now), but the repeater app fails when you try to set either up there.??? And, without the repeater app the communications will always be one to one.? No way to send from RF/packet to DRats to RF/Dstar without the repeater app. ? If I was a software developer I would try to figure this out.??? I've looked at the code to try to find it, but I'm not smart enough.? ? From: d-rats_group@... I have not been able to get the repeater app to work in Drats ( maybe justa bug ? ) I am trying to install a Dstar / Packet " node " via Drats to bridge users as well 9Z4BM / Leon |
D-Rats, Packet, and UZ7HO

Until this weekend all of my attempts at this have used the free AGWPE on Win 7 and XP and Signalinks. ? I understand that it can be done, but I have never been able to make it work consistently. ?? I get the same thing when I telnet in, have you tried using the d-rats client and making the connection?
I have it confirmed working from several other people.
