Recovery from Crashed D-RATS

Issue:
Recovery from Crashed D-RATS

Situation:
I inadvertently crashed D-Rats with an error in the config file and created the error message with the only options to QUIT, IGNORE or IGNORE ALL options. Choosing IGNORE resulted in a loop asking the same question, where IGNORE ALL resulted in the program proceeding but it was unable to re-open Preferences to make any changes.

Deleting the D-RATS Program Folder and Start Menu Folder and Icon was unable to correct. D-RATS continued to bring up old incorrect configuration and preventing access to Preferences.

Correction:
Backup the data in the D-RATS Shared Folder (typically on the desktop in Windows) by copying folder to another location, for safety.

If you know what you last changed in the configuration ("Preferences")
you may be able to use a text editor (Notepad in Windows) and edit the configuration.

The configuration file is called d-rats.config and in Windows you can locate the configuration file by doing the following:

Go to Start -> Run
Type %APPDATA%\D-RATS and hit OK
In the resulting window, you'll see the d-rats.config file

On Linux or MacOS the file is in your home directory, in the .d-rats subdirectory

Edit the Configuration file and save.

Re-Start D-RATS to see if it corrects the problem (it did for me).

If not, try also re-installing the D-RATS over itseld, but if that fails, delete the D-RATS Program Folder and Start Menu Folder and Icon, then Re-install the program.

Hopefully this helps someone else.
