Re: Winlink e-mail from my mobile through my base station?

Hello, I'm curious as to what the communication situation is? So, coms have been cut off from the hospital and they need to get a winlink email sent. You don't have a radio at the hospital yet, so you are trying send via your car's equipment. Is that correct??
I was wondering if the internet is down via cell phone service? Winlink messages can be sent via a phone app, in the interim until you get the radio setup at the hospital. Or, is goal to establish an RF bridge without internet?

Hi, I am looking at options for using D-RATS to send e-mail for ARES and other functions.

Current set-up:
ID-5100 in the car
IS-5100 at home?
Zumspot duplex at home.

Is there a way I can use my base radio to send winlink e-mail through the Zumspot??

I need to send some Winlink e-mails during a test for the hospital radios in our area, The Hospital I am assigned to does not have a radio YET (New hospital, just opened. They ARE committed to installing a radio), so I will be setting up in the parking lots for the area test.

I currently don't have a signal-link or anything like that to send packet radio.

There are at least 3 D-Star repeaters in the area, 2 are a little more "home grown" the 3rd is a professional quality set-up. All 3 are normally linked to 19b (basically our state wide repeater network).

If I can avoid using those repeaters, I would prefer that option. If not, I'll ask the guy with the home grown repeaters if I can link to a ratflector for 4 hours. Oh yeah, the test is over 4 hours, hence not wanting to tie up a repeater.

So basically, I want to talk from my car, to my home rig, and through the home rig, connect to the internet via the hotspot. I understand (I think) That I would need a computer hooked up to the home computer. but if that is the case, can I just use the wi-fi on the computer hooked up to the base rig?

Put another way, which options are possible and/or preferred to send a winlink e-mail from my car for up to 4 hours.

1) Car to local repeater, connected to a ratflector
2) Car to home radio, then to Zumspot (like a crossband repeater?)
3) Car to home radio, then to internet via LAN/Wi-Fi
4) Suck it up and get another hotspot to take with you in the car!
5) Other

Sorry, VERY new to this and got thrown in the deep end for this ARES test. My ARES group doesn't use D-Star (yet) but is big on Winlink. If I can figure this out, I might be able to push for more D-Star/D-Rats use.

Thanks! 73!
