2 CPK-4 plus an AM radio make a complete station
13
Guys, CPK-4 can work with a SSB receiver to make a complete station. If you just have an AM radio receiver, you can consider 2 CPK-4. Photo: https://crkits.com/cpk4.jpg Take 7030 kHz as an example, you can tune your AM radio receiver to 7030 first. You can use the whip antenna or a separate wire antenna. You should hear no CW signal. Power up one CPK-4, set the jumper to GND and fune tune the trimmer capacitor to keep it oscillating at 7030.7 kHz. Adjust the distance between this CPK-4 and the AM radio receiver to receive some signal. If you put them too close, the AGC will suppress the incoming signal too much, so you should put a bit far away so you can hear the signals in some background noise. Now, you can power up another CPK-4 as TX. Set the jumper to KEY, fine tune the trimmer capacitor so you can transmit on 7030 kHz and connect a dedicated resonant antenna for TX. Now, it is ready to grab some QSOs! Thanks, Adam

Add a small shipping charge
Guys, I will update the price to add a small shipping charge to compensate the stronger CNY over USD. If you purchase more than 1 pcs of the same model, the shipping charge will not increase. It helps save a bit if you purchase together with your friend. Thanks for your understanding. It will be effective in the following days around Oct. 7. ADX-S V2 Supply Voltage Question
2
Hello Adam, The documentation for the ADX-S DC Vin says the barrel connector (on the rear) has an acceptable voltage range of 10-12 volts, with 12.6 volts being absolute maximum. I presume the upper limit is recommended to keep from quickly overheating the BS-170 MOSFET's and prevent damage to the Vin pin on the Arduino Nano. But why isn't the acceptable lower voltage limit less than 10 volts? I ask because the minimum recommended voltage for the Vin pin on the Arduino Nano is only 7 volts, and even 6 volts is still supposed to be acceptable for operation. I looked over the schematic and don't see any components that require a minimum of 10 volts. Since we can operate the entire ADX-S using only 5 volts when via the micro-USB connector on the Arduino Nano, so I don't understand why there's a 10 volt lower limit specified for the barrel connector on the rear of the ADX-S. Am I missing something? Thank you, John AA7US

CPK-3 FB (ferrite bead)
2
I just received my kit today. I also ordered off the internet a couple of the KT0936MB9 IC's to build the radio from scratch. I'm stuck on the ferrite bead. I understand what it does as I have built several Regenerative radios and they use a RF choke. I assume this is the same principle. I want to order a few of the ferrite beads but I can not find any information on the size/value of the bead to be able to order it. All other parts I can find. Please can someone give me the value or links to order some of the same ferrite beads in the CPK-3 kit. Also can you buy the PCB separately? Thank you very much! Ron Heikes

Guys, CPK-4 is a crystal controlled QRPP CW TX. I wish to offer 40, 30 and 20m on QRP frequencies. It works with any SSB receiver on hand. See this post in Chinese: https://mp.weixin./s/Q1TaIwT6NBeVdAyoXZIhRQ Thanks, Adam

Jim WB4ILP you want to look up the Mighty Mike CW tx as sold my Far Circuits in Chicago., owner Fred , price is in the seven dollar range as I recall... PCB only this will produce 7 W out and requires IRF 510 and various magnetic components. You could take the bag of bits from Adam and supplement it for say $15 including postage and get a really manly Tx out of it. Have a look at Freddo's component list -you'd be surprised what else might be there ... It gets better - Pacific antennas sells a Keyer kit by Weber for not that many dollars. It is Not the most brillig as it does not save the last config on power down but at price beggars can't be choosers. Basically you get -3 db power of that of an ANGRY-9 Korean war back pack Radio with 1/100 of the weight plus the Angry requires 380 V B+ . Moreover with the ANGRY -9, no keyer. Timothy E. ADX-S V2 build - please help!
20
Hello I'm new to amateur radio and this is my first radio build. I have assembled the main board and the 40m LPF, but all 5 LEDs remain lit with the LPF board installed. What have I tried? At first I thought it might be the microcontroller board; a) so I tried the 3v3 and 5v tests at R1 and U2(Vin) respectively, all good. b) I reflashed the microcontroller with the hex file (it flashed fine but didn't fix the issue) c) I bought a new arduino nano, flashed that - still all LEDs are on. I don't have a spectrum analyser, only a DSO, a multimeter that measures Hz and an ATU-100. Connecting the ADX-S V2 to the ATU and a dummy load, I see no power measured by the ATU. Holding down SW1 and SW2 does not make the TX LED flash. Two LEDs are lit on the Nano (pwr and L) Ther BFO LED is not lit. Advice on where to probe, what to look for would be most appreciated. I have a DSO and multimeter. 73 Rich VK2 LTC

7010 crystals shortage
3
Guys, I will consume all the 7010 crystals very soon, and it is your choice to replace with 7020 or 7025 crystals. That said, the Pixie2023 will become 7020&7030 or 7025&7030 instead of 7010&7030. Please vote. Thanks, Adam

NIgel young.. do you know of somewhere Retail in Nz where I can get the Misi RF Mosfets RD16H1f1 or the RD16HH. I am shortly getting a IRF510 based Tcvr and I'd like to try abit of power improvement. I know about MiniKits in ADL but the cost over the Tasman is somewhere north of 16 dollars for a minimum parcel. Technoman in CHCH maybe ? I'm thinking he might have them as spares for the G90 radios he sells. AUckand as a vendor position is better for me . Intelec in Howick does not carry this part but do have ferrites and similar bits . regards, Timothy E. Spacer too short and hole in the box
7
Hello I assembled my ADX-S V2 yesterday. I realized that the spacers between the between the base board and the lower board are too short. The BNC socket is too high, about 2mm distance is missing The hole in the box was created by the corners of the circuit boards The transportation to Germany was apparently too heavy Greetings Bernd DL3BLA
