Deaf D4D

 

Hi,

My D4D after working very smoothly for several months turned deaf recently, it does work but only signals extremely strong are received.

Any clue or test to perform to start with?

Hi Pedro,

You can bypass the crystal in the receiver front end by a 103 or 104 cap to check out if your NE602 is working okay. It is true that the receiver sensitivity is not as high as the big radios, about 10 dB delta.

As usual your support is superb.

Your guide help me a lot, actually I quickly zeroed on the reason following your method. A faulty external relay to the D4D.

The D4D works perfectly when got rid of it.

PS: Sensitivity is good enough! My D4D rans day in and day out the receiver part of my FT8 beacon/monitoring station completely flawless, out of a rigid dipole routinely reports stations around the globe and daily most stations at the regional (1000-2000 Km distance).
