Re: Replacing BD139 with 2SC1969 or equivalent RF Transistor
Hi Nick, The biasing would need a little alteration but it should work fine as is. It also depends of course on what tcvr you are altering. What will get the most gain is isolating the finals from their original supply voltage and increasing that from say 12v to 24v. Since you are on this forum I expect you are using CRkit products. The spectral output is not great on these products, but they're built to a price point and simplicity. If you really want to do a good job, dump the original finals and build a daughter board using your silicons. It's really a chore of diminishing returns, those transistors are expensive compared to the BD139 and although you can push your output a little higher, 12w as I remember, there are cheaper easier options. Try look for a design you can build outboard, maybe with a push pull circuit or doubled up finals. 开云体育You would need a lot more drive to get any significant power out of the 2SC1969, which means adding at least one more stage. It would be easier to drive the 2SC1969 with the existing BD139. All in all, not work the effort. ? Steve KD1JV ? Hi ? |

that is one cute little rig.
my only trivial suggestion would be to use a phono socket as a cheap/cheerful/robust antenna connector to avoid the cost/fragility of the sma socket (and sma/bnc adaptor we need too... the leverage on them makes it all to easy to wrench the main socket out
of the board whereas a sharp pull on the coax simply disconnects a phono without damage)

Re: D4D mods
I made the changes suggested by WB2LDH.? The most power out, with both WSJT-W and soundcard at max, is 600mW as measured by my Elecraft W1 power meter. Can you suggest a value at for capacitor parallel to C11 other than 56pf that might boost this a bit. Bryan B. Brauer, PE Consulting Engineer |
Re: HT-1, Using both AF/RF controls
John
Hi Frank and thank you for your reply. The only rig I have ever had is my SG-2020 and rarely?use it. However I thought since I have the parts I might as well install it. Next I want to install the battery option but?will add a switch to cut the B+ on the battery so I can use an external battery if needed. Again thank you very much. John K2JHU... Re: HT-1, Using both AF/RF controls
Hi John,
? Yes I added the RF control to the back panel above the power jack. Just position it so that it will fit in the corner with just enough room to clear the top and the side and the power jack. ? So far I have found that I have rarely had to use it. 73's? Frank KB4VU |

Thanks Jim, your reply did help.
I have already purchased the Sunfounder open box(it says something about a plastic corner being chipped). I am going to use your setup as a reference for this. One thing I am eager to find out is if I can find out a way to remotely control the screen of this from another windows desktop. As this is what I am doing right now with a windows tablet with my regular station. The tablet is beside my radio and I use Google Remote Desktop to control the tablet just as if i was sitting in front of it. It would be really new to be able to store this setup in my storage room closer to an antenna away from my regular one so that it can be ran like you will be doing with solar. I can use a photo switch relay combo to switch either to another battery bank that was charged during the day for night time use or to mains power. I'll have to wait and see. Well anyway buddy, if you get a chance to make a video of this in operation, and maybe showing a few software shots and maybe some hints on how you got the software all setup would be great. At very least maybe just some footage of the software in action would be really cool. If not that is fine I am very happy with the info you have already shared. Have fun buddy. Thomas, KJ4GK |
Re: Mini FT8 Station

Hello Adam,
Thanks for your statement on the amplifier. Quick question, Only reason I am even thinking of adding an amplifier to mine once purchased is my Antenna Restrictions. With my regular FT8 setup I am having to run a bare minimum of 40w due to the db loss of my system. Will a Multi Stage Input Low Pass Filter help in between the DSB Transceiver and Amplifier then a Regular Low Pass Filter for the output of the amplifier help with this Adjacent Channel Interference? In your opinion if there anything I can do to help minimize these effects? It really would be beneficial for me to up my power to at least 40w. Thanks, Thomas KJ4GK |
