TCL 98" Android/Google TV - Control?

Has anyone had any luck with these TVs and getting discrete control?

I have the ability to use HDMI-CEC, LAN, or IR control, but need to know if there is a solution I should pursue which others have found to be reliable.

I have tried HDMI CEC standard on off commands of \xE0\x04 and \xE0\x36 without any luck.? I am getting a constant response of \x04\x83 from the TV itself, so it does look like it is there, just don't know what it will respond to.

Any help is appreciated.? Thanks!

So I¡¯ve had the opportunity to install quite a few of these. They are actually remarkably nice for the money. ?When they first came out they actually had a fairly nice set of discrete IR controls. ?About a month after installing the first one the customer called to tell us that it was no longer turning off. ?This coincided with a TCL/Android TV update. ?We tried every one of the 256(?) available IR codes in the set and the display did not turn off with any of them. ?Thankfully there is a discrete on and some discrete input commands. ?In my source select stepper I used the little toggle power module in the database and used the power toggle command. ?Then I used a short delay and send the discrete power on command. ?Doing it like this keeps the toggle module in check just in case it wanders off into the cornfield and has been very reliable. ?You may have to fiddle with the timing of the delay if you are changing inputs but the end result is pretty good. ?The IR file I uploaded has the off command but it does not work¡I left it in just in case another future update restores the functionality. ?I hope this helps. ?The first one of these I did took me hours and hours to sort out. ?The Android TV integration does not work. ?The NIC goes to sleep about 30 seconds after it turns off preventing you from turning it back on. ?CEC through an AVPro room box was super flaky¡randomly coming on to different inputs and not leaving the damn AndroidTV home screen like some of the Sony displays now do. ?I threw 25 years of experience at it and came up with the above solution.

Hi guys,

A few years back I did a large project using TCL displays as TCL were the sponsor for the client.? ?We worked with TCL directly in China and they implemented an IP control protocol for us in their Android and non android screens.? It was painful but IP control was the only way I could control the many hundreds of screens we needed to.? Apparently they were going to implement the protocol in all screens from then on.? I have not used a TCL screen since that project so I have never had the chance to see if their current screens still have this functionality.??

Having said that, I do know that over the years our client has had to replace many screens due to damage/failure etc and as far as I know, all the replacements are working correctly with our Crestron IP control solution so there is a chance that they did implement it.?

It wasnt a full featured API. We only needed certain functionality so we limited it to the following
* Source Input select & FB
* Volume (discrete and ramping) & FB
* TV Channel select & FB
* Power Off (TCP)
* MAC Address FB - to allow us to retrieve and use the MAC in the WOL string for Power On.? (No TCP power on unfrtunately).?

The protocol was dead simple but I wont share it publicly.? If someone with a TCL screen wants to PM me, I can send across some of the commands for you to try and see if they work or not.? No guarantees though!?

Hello, I hope to get your help and share, thank you
