Samsung Frame TV (again)

Hate to beat a dead horse here¡I know that these have been discussed ad nausea. ?Has anyone had any experience with the 32¡± model Samsung Frame TV? ?I¡¯ve had pretty good results with all of the other models via Ex-link but for some reason the 32¡± model cannot be turned on. ?All the other commands in use on other Frame models work fine except for the power on command. ?I thought I had it solved as it responded to WOL but after a short while that also stops working. ?The IP module also gives the same results¡works fine then will no longer power on. ?Something is going to sleep and it seems to be specific to the 32¡± model.

Also, on a slightly different note, the Samsung IP 1.3 from the store has that Newtonsoft requirement that was a ¡°thing¡± recently¡any fix for that? ?

Don¡¯t use the IP module from the marketplace. Use the CCD instead. I¡¯ve not tried controlling the 32¡± though, so can¡¯t comment on that particular issue.

The only answer here is IR. It¡¯s the only thing that will work consistently.?

The serial Crestron Certified Driver for the 32" frame has this note in the definition:

To work properly the Sub-micom Version of firmware needs to end with 1040 or higher. Samsung provides firmware updates.

The publicly available firmware updates don't seem to update the sub-micom version, only the micom version (mine is on 1003). I don't know if this is a red herring or if there is actually a newer version available somewhere.

So, I'm going to go down the rabbit hole for Samsung IP control, specifically with the Frame for this first try.
1. Is the consensus that the CCD/Pkg file approach the best/only way to do it?
2. is there a way via IP/CCD to deal with discrete control of the ART mode?
?
I have had good success with Frame and ex-link (thanks to others' on this site), But it would be great to *reliably* use IP for these things....
?
TIA!

I've just done one, the IP control needed to be allowed on the display every time the code got updated, apart from that it works ok. We are switching to Art mode when off, then a press and hold of the power button turns it all the way off.
I also found that RS232 on command did not work, bug in the firmware according to Samsung support.

Neil, Are you saying that there's a setting in the TV itself to turn on the IP control?

Oops I found the settings...

So have been trying to find a solid way to control these Frame TVs the month or so. I borrowed one from my work and set it up in my bedroom to test. I was trying to find solid control from CEC /EX Link and realized that it would often "Lock up" and not wake from off when left in Art mode before turning it off. And to some extent it would do that when turned off from HDMI as well.
?
What I came up with for a seemingly stable and solid control is the following:
EX-Link for Power Off and Inputs, Art mode controls. But using IR Discrete Power On for turning it on. It always seems to wake with IR. I can do everything else with Ex-Link but on with IR just works. And since the Power On is Discrete it only turns on. if its on and I send that code it just stays on.
?
Hope this helps.
?
And yes I know no one wants to use Ir as emitters tend to fall off. I really tried to get CEC or EXlink to reliably turn it on. But there were days when I went to turn the Tv on and it simply would not wake up. I could send power on ex-link / CEC 50 times from debugger and it just didn't wake up. pulse IR once and it turned right on.
?
YMMV

PS Im curious about IP control but haven't tried it yet?
