Pretty Toolbox splash

For me the initial load with the splash screen takes several seconds - but
if I close it afterwards, it reopens in 1 second or so each time - I have
it set to not open a default workspace or connect to anything on startup,
maybe that's the difference.

Windows 7 64-bit SP1, Intel i5-2320 3GHz, 6GB RAM; I was also running
AutoCAD, Firefox, Outlook, Acrobat and several background processes at the
same time during this "test." Time to upgrade?

Ugh, no, it's terrible. I used to open and close Toolbox on a regular
basis as I needed it, now I leave it open simply to avoid the Splash screen.

Diverging: Chris, have you tried two vs. four cores in Fusion? I'm curious. In the past I always found two to be faster than four, but I'll try again if something has changed.

Haven't tried, as I also use the VM for other things - Litetouch, Vantage,
etc.

If I ever get really bored, I might try it.

You're either not running the current version or you need to share your secret. The current version laughs at me when I try to open Outlook, Firefox, SIMPL Windows, VTPro...whatever - it's ALL hidden under the splash screen that rules *over* them all.

Stays in front for me - for 45 seconds!!! no problem with other programs, Crestron or other...

I just tried from a cold boot of my laptop. 3 to 4 seconds the first time
and under 2 seconds thereafter. And I don't mean the splash screen, I mean
open.Win 7 64, i7 quad, 8 gb. But the secret sauce is a 500 gb SSD. They
are so cheap now you owe it to yourself.

Just rebooted both machines to make sure it was worst-case.

Mac-Fusion VM (i7 2.6GHz, 16GB RAM-4 for VM, W7-32, SSD): The splash shows up instantly, and goes away after 3-4 seconds.
Desktop PC (i7 3.4GHz, 8GB RAM, W7-64, SSD): Shows up instantly and goes away in 2-3 seconds.

I am also running from a fast SSD, nevertheless it can take up to a minute for Toolbox to load sometimes. Other times it takes 5 seconds, there seems no rhyme or reason. MacBook Pro, 8gb with 4gb for Parallells.

Hey Chip. When you say current version, are you referring to release or labs beta? I'm pretty sure I remember this painful, can be timed with a sundial toolbox version that is current release right now, but with the current beta / RC versions on labs they have greatly improved start time, either on purpose or by accident - we may never know. I just tested with 3 instances of simpl (1 in the act of compiling) and vt pro with a behemoth core3 project compiling as well. Startup time from click to visible workspace was 3.5 seconds. My pc is definitely above average but no super beast. (i7, 8gb, ssd primary).

+1 -- I like it. On my machine, sometimes Toolbox opens in a few seconds,
