OT: Large project, lost of different touch panels
Hi,
I'd like some advice. I have a project where the integrator has specified a couple of different touch panels; V12, TST-600, MTX-3, TPMC-4SMD, TPMC-3SMD. I suggested we change the TST-600's for TPS-6X's so that I don't have to program anything in Smart Graphics (Core 3). It is actually a VERY simple residential system with lots of touch panels. Any comments? Thanks! |
Time to change integrators...

Or have a very frank conversation about how cutting down on the number of type of UIs will reduce the upfront programming cost, total cost of ownership (through adds/changes in the future) and deployment time.

It's actually a really easy conversation to have and one I've had many times along the lines of "The cost savings from eliminating having to build and create submittals for the TPMC-3SMs will more than outweigh the cost difference of replacing the TMPC-3SMs with TPMC-4SMs" Lincoln -- Lincoln King-Cliby, CTS Commercial Market Director Sr. Systems Architect | Crestron Certified Master Programmer (Silver) ControlWorks Consulting, LLC Crestron Services Provider -----Original Message-----

This is an international project, meaning the integrator, the client and myself are all different nationalities. The client has MANY house around the world. Money is not an object. They have areas where there's a V12 on the wall, TST-600 on the counter and MTX-3 next to the TV. The programming the client wants are VERY straight forward. Most touch panels only do one or two things and they hardly overlap with each other. VERY SIMPEL.

I just want to do something that will work. I'm worried there are two many gremlins still hiding in Core 3, but on the other hand the TPS-6X are on its way out. So my options are: 1) Stay with TST-600 and do all in Core 3, except the TPMC-3SMD, and there are many of them 2) Change to TPS-6X and do all in non-core 3 Reliability is the keyword here.
