New Processors/Software and Modules Issues?

Chip

Modules such as.......?

I'm not familiar with any locked modules - at least not from Crestron, save one or two. And if Crestron DID have locked modules that weren't compatible, I'd expect 'em to fix that! (They can choose the method of fixing - do it themselves, or give me an unlocked version of the module!) :)

my take was that the discussion was about modules fom other companies/programmers/etc. I'm not sure that this will impact me personally with any regularity, but I agree that drinking is usually the best, first answer.

I might be a little late, but how do you know the modules are not compatible,
as-is?

And if they really aren't, have you tried contacting the module's author?

Okay, I just opened a QM-RMC program with several encrypted Simpl and Simpl+ modules, and replaced the processor with a PMC3-XP (there's no such thing as a "PMC2+-XP"). Saved the new program and it compiled fine, with no errors.

Perhaps there's something else wrong with your program?

Well, "technically" that was two typos :-)

Actually, my mentioning it was not intended as an insult. I merely wanted to
correct the model number, for your, and others', benefit - in case you weren't
aware.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Maybe, but that wouldn't tell us if there's a problem with *your* program,
software, or PC.

Send me an archive of the program with the old processor in it, then I'll first
make sure I can compile that, before adding the new processor and compiling it
again.

While you're at it, let me know what software versions you're using. The
easiest way is to click Help/About in Simpl, then click Copy To Clipboard.
Finally, take a screenshot of the error message you're getting when you try to
compile it.

Have you talked to anyone at TB about it? If so, what did they say?

Wouldn't this be just a easy as down loading the Lutron ra2 example and

Don't take offense. Everyone has problems with their program, every now and
then :-)

have you updated your software for all the new added features?
Are you serious?

If so then you shouldn't have a problem downloading the example and
converting the processor to see the problem.
Again - are you serious?

I offered MY time to help YOU, and you're too lazy to send me an archive? And
don't forget, it was you who first offered to send an archive. Now, you don't
feel like it? Instead, you want *ME* to go find the module, download it, then
create a program to test YOUR problem? Is that right?

I can't believe I've wasted this much time on it. Hopefully, someone else will
learn from it... :-)

like they say the program is only as good as the programmer!!
How true - and you're confirming my suspicions :-)

You also didn't answer the question, again...

Inconceivable!!!!

If that's the case, you should be able to forward those modules to Crestron along with an explanation of the issue. If the author/company is truly no longer around, Crestron should be able to provide you with unlocked versions.

Yes, there is no way to compile locked S+ modules - why don't ask this feature from TB?

My advise is to wait for a year of using series 3 in commercial projects)

But if situation is exigent (have you another when installing?), let's send me the locked USPs (except serial/activation protect routines, of cause) - I'll recompile em on current S+ for series 3 and send back locked without compile log for keeping developer's shame)

FWIW, I just downloaded the "Lutron RadioRA2 Module Demo Pro2 R02.zip"
module from here and replaced the PRO2 with a PMC3-XP. It compiled
fine.
