HD-MD8X2 questions
I'm hoping to use one of these in my sons apartment but having a little trouble wrapping my brain around setting it up.? First question is, is there any benefit to connecting via Ethernet over cresnet?? If I use cresnet, i only need a 10 inch long cable direct to the processor.? There will only be 4 sources accessed by 2 TV's. (Living room and bed room). I don't need audio breakaway.? I'm missing something here.? Looking at it in program mode, I'm not seeing what initiates the input and which output you want to send it to.
|
Set the Analog values (VideoOut-x and AudioOut-x) for the route you want - 0d to 8d - 0d is no route, 1-8d is inputs 1-8
Use an AOS on the analogs to trigger the VideoEnter and AudioEnter to send (Take) the routes. that's it... Assuming you don't need to separate video and audio, and thus AudioBreakAway is low or undefined, all you need to do is have the VideoOut analogs set, the audio will naturally follow. Use (2) AOS's and OR their outputs into the VideoEnter HTH |
Thanks.? Hoping to get back to this later today.? A little more research indicates that it needs to be setup correctly using DM tool.? But in order to do that, it needs to actually have the sources connected.? the four sources are a Fios cable box, Dune media player, Xbox and his laptop.? I don't have the displays yet but they will both be 60-65 inch Samsung flat screens.
|
I haven't really had time to play with this so I haven't got the programming right for it yet. But that's not the immediate problem.? I wanted to make sure it was actually working so I connected one source and one display so I could test all 8 inputs and 2 outputs.? I actually ended up with two of these switchers and both doing the same thing.? For the input, I'm using a PC set to 1080P 60.? Going to the monitor direct from the PC, it displays perfectly.? Passing the signal through the switcher is the problem.? How to discribe this hmmmm.? The image fills the screen but actually to big. If you were looking at a normal windows desktop and then put a strip of 3/4 inch tape on all four sides, that's what I see. |
开云体育Sounds like an overscan issue; sounds like the switcher is presenting different EDID to the source than the TV directly is which you can usually fix either by copying the EDID from the sink (e.g. TV) in the DM setup tool (I think the HD-MD8X2 supports this) or changing the picture mode on the TV (1:1, fit, etc.) ? I've been buried with other more important issues and haven't had any time to sort this out.? The monitor I'm using for this test is a actual 1080P computer monitor with no internal speakers.? I do have a small Samsung 1080P TV that I can hook up and try along with a spare Dune HD? media player set to 1080P.? That would better represent what it's actually expected to do.? I'll try this later on today when I get home from work on my day off. |
I haven't had any time to play with this switcher for a month. I'm fairly sure there's nothing wrong with the switcher as I can make it switch remotely from DM Tool in toolbox.? Not doing anything fancy.? I just want to see it switch.? I have been looking for a example program including this but came up empty.? My last try is a "or" expanded to four inputs, connected to videoenter on the switcher with the signal name video_enter.
I'm using 2 "analog initialize" expanded to four inputs with the same input names as the "or".? One "init" for each of the 2 outputs.? I'm using inputs 1-4 so 1d-4d.? I have the output of the 2 "init" connected to the inputs videoOut1 and videoOut2 with the signal names "source_for_output_1 and source_for_output_2.? I think this should be switching but it is not.? What am I doing wrong here? |
So it's going to be a bit different since the 8x2 has 2 outputs,
but for my HD-MD4X1-4K-E, the only signal I have hooked up to the device
in my SIMPL program is the [Video_Out] input that is fed by an Analog
Initialize.? The inputs on the Analog Initialize are fed by steppers
that are used for selecting each computer that I have connected to the inputs. My HD-MD4X1-4K-E device was acting up recently after I returned from vacation.? It wasn't picking up an IP
address and I also couldn't switch it manually, but after a few cycles
of pulling the power plug out, it has been working fine since. Geoff

OK, I dropped the "or" and replaced it's output with a "1".? Still not switching.? Something funky going on here.? I'm using a ipad recently set up as a touch screen.? I know it's communicating with the processor because in my little test program I have a Dune media player set up for IP control and have normal communication /operation with the Dune.? One thing I miss from upgrading from a Pro2 as all those LED's on the front panel.? Super easy to see if you're communicating.? Just look at the front panel |
Maybe a dumb question, but have you tried monitoring what's going on in SIMPL Debugger to confirm the correct signals are getting fired?? Unless the switcher is defective, getting it to switch should be pretty straightforward. Geoff On Wed, Aug 28, 2024 at 3:52?PM stefuel2 via <stefuel=[email protected]> wrote:

I rarely get the itch to use debugger so not 100% sure but it does look like the signals are firing but no response from the switcher.? I have two of these switchers, both doing the exact same thing.? Both will switch from DM tool and the front controls.? I know my tablet is communicating with the processor (Pro3) as I have full control over other devices.? I've done something stupid and just not seeing it.? As a last resort, I was thinking of trying to control it with the switcher widget.? I've added it to the Vtpro project, given it a smart object ID of 1, saved, compiled and uploaded to the processor.? I've never used any widgets before.? How do I add the device extender to the simpl project.? Not seeing it.

Is the HD-MD showing online in your processor IP Table? On Sat, Aug 31, 2024 at 9:00?PM stefuel2 via <stefuel=[email protected]> wrote:

Use toolbox to open a text terminal to the 8x2
?
type IPT and hit enter
?
that's your ip table
?
you can remove entries by typing "REMM (IPID#) (Address)" and add entries by typing "ADDM (IPID#) (Address)"
?
You need an entry in there to point the ipid of whatever the 8x2's ipid in your processor code is, at the ip address for your processor. |
So in text console, I typed in IPT.? There's only one entry and it looks correct.
CIP_ID 3,? Type Gway,? Status Off line,? Device ID 4 (this I'm not sure of.? What generates that?)? Port 71794, IP address/site name
192.168.001.160.? This is after doing a restore and starting over.? Still off line.? Currently on FW 4.102.149800030 |
Almost there!
Go back to Simpl, "Project", "Configure System".
Move the HD-MD 8x2 (just drag and drop it) to the IP-ID that the HD-MD 8x2 is configured for: 3
Recompile and upload.
Double check the IP address of the PRO 3, should be 192.168.1.160. If not, adjust the IP table entry in the HD-MD 8x2, it should point to the PRO 3.
?
Best regards
