DMPS-300-C toolbox asks for password
I can't remember the 'Secret Handshake', but its something like Press the SW-R button and then press the HW-R button 5X...some shenanigans like that.
I think the manual has the steps (or check OLH) Just know that the system with reset all of its settings and maybe wipe all the files, so make sure that you know the settings and have the files backed up... Depending on the current FW, even FD'ing the unit may still boot it up requiring that you add a new PW, which is OK as you'll now know it. if you want to get rid of AUTH, you'll likely have to downgrade the FW to an Non-Auth required version and then step it back up... |
yes, the combination is Hw once Sw for 20 sec, but? i will loose and the "out of the box" experience i think. (correct me if i'm wrong, other DMPS-300-C that is not locked, when i connect with toolbox, i have a graphical interface where i can select sources and adjust the sound. i'm afraid if i reset the locked one, i will loose also this, which i dont have the files to install.

if i connect in the front USB asks for password. if i connect in the rear USB, it doesn't ask, and i have console. But the rear is for the A/V only as i read, not for the processor. Correct me if i'm wrong.?
I mean, if i connect in the front USB (computer), with DMtools asks for password. also console tool |
We got 10 new DMPS3-300-C units a month or so ago and the first 4 we opened had passwords on them out of the box.? After a bunch of back and forth with Crestron and our sales rep the current story is there were new people on the testing line and they put passwords on them but forgot to take them off before shipping.? I was told repeatedly by True Blue that I needed to follow this process...
Which is press the HW-R button once then the SW-R button 5 times with a 1 second gap between pushes.? Which was supposed to do a factory recovery after which you could set the password (and likely have to load firmware).? Which I could never get to work, until someone else who had received some of these new units with existing passwords at a different university tried doing that same procedure but with a twist.? Instead of the prescribed one second between presses, press it 5 times as fast as you can.? Which for some reason worked.? After a half hour or so I connected with Toolbox and it prompted me to set a username and password. So try that. |

? admin/Crestron123 set for the username and password ? Yes, for devices that sent in for repair & are CA SB-327 compliant ("first boot mode" requires creation of custom admin creds), the RMA team applies admin:Crestron123. When checking if a device truly has AUTH creds applied, I find it's best to check with a SSH console like PuTTY rather than Toolbox. If AUTH isn't enabled, the default SSH login will be crestron:<blank> (just hit enter when prompted for password). If the device is CA SB-327 compliant, it'll then give first-boot-mode prompt to create custom admin creds. If the default SSH login isn't accepted, that's confirmation that custom auth creds were already applied. Toolbox does this (SSH login w/ default crestron:<blank>) behind the scenes, and just presents users with the first-boot-mode creds prompt. <https://community.crestron.com/s/article/id-5571> ("Authentication Considerations" section) <https://community.crestron.com/s/article/id-1000900> ? ? ? If logging in via Toolbox, the following message pops up: Your temporary password is expired! Please create a new password. ?? ¡¤ The CLEARTEMPPASSWORDFLAG command can be sent after the ADDUSER command to make the password permanent instead. This eliminates the temporary password prompt that's encountered when the newly provisioned user first logs in. ? CP4N>adduser -N:NewUser1 -P:Pa$$word1 User account was successfully created. ? I've had a batch of DMPS3-300-c's as well on a college campus that some randomly had passwords set in them from the factory.? Had to reset them.? Also had the same issue with the touch panels, most were fine and did the setup on first connect, and others were fresh out of the box and already had logins set.? Factory resetting the TS770's are painful, as you have to reboot them 10 times or something to get them into reset mode.? The TP reset takes forever to get going.
Really slows things down onsite when you have a bunch of these to login to and setup and deploy, when you have to spend way longer just getting it a point that you can login successfully. -- Jason Mussetter Control Systems Designer Mussetter Programming Services |
