Crosspoints and Party Mode

Happy Friday All,

I've been reading some of the other threads recently about crosspoints and it sparked me to want to throw my question out there. I've been using crosspoints a lot lately and have gotten a pretty good handle on what I want to accomplish with them and this has been rather exciting for me. But the one thing that I'm still stuck on is doing a party mode and/or sharing sources. I was wondering if some of you crosspoint guru's have some advice/knowledge about this specific topic that you would be willing to share with those of us who are still novices in the realm of crosspoints. Is there a good way to do this with crosspoints or is it less messy to just buffer that part out?

Thank you for your time,

Nate L.

I've usually implemented party modes as a hybrid in my resi systems.

I have a Party Mode AV Zone ECROSS which is what the interface CCROSS
connects to. Then, based on the the user's inclusion or exclusion of each
zone into the current "party" configuration, I enable/disable a buffer to
allow the commands from the party mode ECROSS to propegate to the zone
control joins.

The trick is the feedback. I pick the first zone added to "party mode" and
use it's feedback back to the interface panel. That way I'm not jamming
multiple zone's feedback back through a single CCROSS to the panel.

In most cases, it's desired for party mode to track AV source selection and
control, but not volume. I often have the ability to force a single volume
to all zones as a party mode "preset" but then each volume control is
individually adjustable on a special party mode volume page. I use the
same subpage with multiple join offset references and "instantiate" a
reference for each zone currently part of the active "party".

Works well for me and is flexible for most client's desires.

I've been using Crosspoints for my party mode for some time with no issues. ?I use a separate Econn for each of the 24 rooms in my module and handle the disconnect/connect from there. ?I use basically the same CCross as I do for all my room controls, just pared down to Volume +/- power/ and analog source. ?From there I use a simple module to create a list of all rooms available to which the user can toggle the rooms they want involved, then send the current rooms source or adjust volume or turn off the room(s). ?Simple functionality for the user to reduce the chance of user error/confusion.

This all sits in an interface wrapper module to keep it clean.
