NVX With Cisco 9300

Edited

I have a larger NVX Install that were are in the first stages of turn up. I am dealing with a corp. IT guy who has never done NVX before-

the final system will be 40 TX and 80+ RX

we have 24 RX online and 2 TX-
power on the first TX and route to displays everything is fine

power on second TX everything is fine

Route second TX and we lose all video.

Unfortunately i am not a Cisco guy and he has never done NVX so we are wstuck at a cross roads-

Any suggestions on where to have him look?

I'd start here:

Not having "No span tcn flood" applied to all interfaces is the most typical culprit assuming. IGMP is correctly deployed

Also for the querier note that -all- multicast traffic is forwarded to the querier so having as logically close to the TX as possible (or ensuring that the uplink is sized to accommodate the traffic from all NVX encoders flowing over it) can get you in multiswitch deployments?

Lastly if there are multiple queriers on the same VLAN that's also very bad(tm) and CA be fun.

I'm on a plane right now but looking at the outputs of the SH IP IGMP... Series commands can also be informative?

Thank You, Lincoln.

We made the cutover from the temp switches this morning- everything went perfectly.

Another thing to check is the power settings on the ports.? I was having problems with the over utilization of the POE and had to force a couple ports to the MAX POE to keep them from rebooting once a stream started and the device starting really working hard.

Hey there!

Just curious, this "no span tcn flood" you just mentioned, what other names does it have? I mean, how do I look for it in an Alcatel (OS2360-P48X) switch?

I'm not a network guy, but have a solid understanding of the basics, however, I've been struggling with this d*mn NVX solution to work with my client's? infrastructure. Just frustrated and looking for any additional clues. Thanks in advance.

Just in case, here is my config so far:

! Vlans
vlan 2 admin-state enable
vlan 3 admin-state enable
vlan 2 members port 1/1/23-48 untagged
vlan 3 members port 1/1/2-22 untagged
vlan 1 members port 1/1/1 untagged

! Interfaces
ip interface NVX address 192.168.2.3 vlan 2
ip interface AV address 192.168.3.3 vlan 3

! Multicast
ip multicast admin-state enable
ip multicast querying enable
ip multicast spoofing enable
ip multicast querier-forwarding enable
ip multicast vlan 2 admin-state enable

I've experienced this and setting up 130 nvx 630 and 30 nvx c and experiencing problems but in the end it can be resolved, right?

hello sir i want to ask tst with cen-gwexer i can't communicate is there any solution

29 C9300 Switches
2 Core Switches
40G links to the Cores.
890 and growing NVX Endpoints.
Dozens of Touch panels, Audio, etc.
10 4 series processors

Cores are the Querier

Each port of the C9300 looks like this:
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/5 switchport access vlan 350 switchport mode access power inline port 2-event no ip igmp snooping tcn flood

No Issues.
Had to move the DANTE devices to its own VLAN because of message traffic and intermittent clocking but NVX and Control is rock solid.

If anyone is having POE issues with Catalysts, turn on LLDP protocol with following command:
LLdp run

This will allow NVX endpoints to properly negotiate power. They may work but only pulling 15.4 watts, which would not be enough.

If lldp can not be enabled, you can set static POE power per port.

If LLDP cannot be enabled it would be best to have a conversation about “Why” and see if the objection can be overcome through other means (e.g. by disabling/blocking LLDP on specific ports/port ranges) – IMO static POE is a bit hackish and the last resort.
