DMPS3-300-C not linking Cisco switch?

I'm working with a DMPS3-300-C that is giving me some issues.?

The issues started with not taking firmware updates and sometimes getting stuck on bootup or initialization. Finally got that resolved and the firmware up to date.?

The issue I am having now is related to the LAN port on the device.
I have two Cisco managed switches that we use quite often in QA without any issue. One is not connected to the shop network and the other is. When I connect the DMPS3 to either of those switches, I get no activity on the LAN port lights and am not able to discover in Toolbox. This is the case whether it is set to static or DHCP.
If I plug a Crestron CEN-SW-POE-5 to one of the Cisco switches, and the DMPS into the Crestron switch, success! I am able to discover in toolbox and have activity lights. The DMPS receives a DHCP address. I am only able to connect to the IP in toolbox though if I am also connected to the USB on the DMPS. If I unplug the USB and only discover the device by IP in toolbox, it says "Cannot Connect" when attempting connection.?

Any ideas? At a bit of a loss.?

HI,

I've seen Cisco Switches on a couple of corporate networks where by we tested the kit in different ports.? ?The Cisco switch was set up to automatically block equipment when moved been ports as a security measure.? ?Sounds like you may have a similar problem so worth checking the switch as at seems to be your point of failure.? ? ? ? Worth also checking if you have any vLANs on the switch and hence trying to talk across them would not work if not setup? correctly.

Is the LED on the Cisco end amber when you aren¡¯t able to link?

?

If the LED is amber, generally speaking the physical link is up but the logical link is down. There are a few main ways this can happen¡

-????????? If spanning tree portfast edge is not enabled on the port it is typical for it to take a (feels like eternal) period of time while spanning tree examines for potential loops

-????????? If the port is administratively disabled (shutdown) depending on the switch platform you¡¯ll get amber or no LED

-????????? If the port is error disabled for one of a variety of causes including

o?? BPDU guard if the DMPS leaked BPDU packets back to the switch port and guard is enabled

o?? MAC security ¨C if the DMPS leaked an additional MAC address or a different MAC address than has been configured for the port (you can configure a port to only allow ¡°x¡± number of MAC addresses at a time and to learn the MAC addresses, or to only allow a specific MAC addresses. Depending on the port security configuration violations will either drop traffic for unauthorized MACs or shut the port down.

o?? Spanning tree violations

?

Really your best course of action is to either review the log on the switch if you have access or ask whomever has control to review the log. ¡°term mon¡± when connected to the switch can be useful for live troubleshooting as well.

I had the same issue with a DMPS3-4K-150-C. When I turned on the system for the first time I had link lights on the ethernet port. After a while I lost the link lights. After talking with crestron, they told me to turn off auto-negotiate and poe on the port feeding the 4K-150. It worked! I hope this solves your problem! :)

Very interest re Auto Neg on the switch. ?Had that once with a Sony display. ? Its was the only way to get the device on the LAN. ? Sony RMA¡¯d the screen and the new one was fine¡..Whilst the solution works, makes me wonder if the network card in the DMPS is not correct in the first place / is there an underlying fault in the DMPS.

Do you use the Cisco SG Series switch?

i had the same issue with a DMPS3-150 and a Cisco SG350, turning off Auto Negotiation and POE should do it.
You could also try to use like a 10-20 Meter Networkcable or talk to TB, in my case i had to send the DMPS back to Crestron, they did some changes to it and it worked fine after we got it back.

Thanks everybody for your ideas. Worked with True Blue and eventually they just RMA'd the unit. In testing, tried with a new out of box Luxul managed switch and had the same issue of no activity lights on the DMPS or on the switch port. So the problem wasn't cisco specific, just managed switch specific or something.?
