Help to program API to code
Germt van de Sande
Hello, They ask me
to program a module for an Video system by using there API. I never had
work with an API before and a i ?was wandering how that is working. ? There are 2
API they sent me,
1???????????????????
JSON 2???????????????????
XML Can someone
help me starting to work with a API documents and tell me how to translate it
into code.Maybe it¡¯s
very simple but I don¡¯t see how to start with it and use it into crestron.
Thanks Germt |
Not to discourage your attempt, but until VERY recently JSON and XML were not easily handled with Crestron. ?That said, they still aren't easy today unless you are versed with C# and have Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Pro to develop within for use with SIMPL# libraries that can be called form SIMPL+. ?Whether you need to go down the road of SIMPL# will be determined by the device, the API, and what you need to control within the API. ?But with almost full certainty you will need to work within SIMPL+ to help make your life easier. ?I know this isn't helpful, but to kindly put it, you have not been thrown in the deep end. ?You've been hauled out to sea and thrown overboard at the Mariana Trench with cement shoes. ?To help us help you, please post what the device is and if the API is public a link to the APIs along with a set of goals for what you need to do and we can all be able to guide you a little bit more accurately. ?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi,XML and JSON in this case is nothing more than a TCP/IP (port 80) communication over GET and POST requests. Your first step should be the API document (JSON or XML). Just begin with the Appendix A. Then use the Search button on this forum and find some GET and POST examples in SIMPL+. It looks complicated, but once you break the barrier, it's just a.. .
