new native ipad symbol

Finally, the new device database and firmware have support for a native iPad symbol instead of the hokey TCP to module crap.

and it has been working solidly(?) for a whole 20 minutes without crashing, way to go crestron!

Just downloaded - thanks for the heads up!!

Ooooh. Let me download it in the middle of a project and see if the whole house explodes! Crossing fingers for improved performance and less chatter in the debugger.

Yes, THAT is the real question - did they just "hide" the old logic, or has the
interface actually been improved :-)

One thing that does suck about it being native is that I had a nice module with the iPad module built into it. Only had to connect it to it's two clients. Nice and clean on the outside. I suppose this will allow me to keep a consistent module between each style of TP. We will see...

IS this a beta thing? I just checked the website and tried masterinstaller and dont see any update for this.

I have simplwindows 2.12.44.01 and device database 31.00.005.00?

Well, if they hid it, they hid it well. :) The interface is greatly improved, as it looks like any old touch panel symbol now - the only difference is the handful of parameters at the bottom...

No help file though. :(

I just downloaded & installed device db 31.05.005.00 to make it appear. Go to the software update section of Crestron's site to find it.

I was actually referring to the "communications interface" :-)

I like the new symbol, but I'm curious about how it actually works, or what's
"inside" the symbol. Is it the same old thing, in a pretty wrapper, or is it
something a lot better...

The old module / new symbol have always supported analogs - it's the app that's...lacking...

They forgot to increment the version number -- MasterInstaller won't see it as new if you were up to date.

The new device module (iphone/ipad native)is going to allow the GUI to reside on Apple not Crestron.

I have one loaded here using the native iPad symbol and looking at SIMPL debugger while operating the iPad there at least aren't all those connection signals flying back and forth so thats good.

I would also remind people that when you set up the connection on the iPad app to use the same port for both port fields to whatever is defined in the program. My initial instinct was still to use sequential ports.

Really?!?! Lacking the help file for the new symbol, that was going to be my plan as well when I got home! Thanks for pointing that out...

Will updating force me to modify existing programs to use the new native symbol? I will get around to updating jobs eventually, but I don't want to show up to a pre-existing job for an unrelated service call and find I can't recompile without budgeting the time to make the necessary iPad/iPhone changes...

No, you can leave existing code in place, or even use the old module and TCP
symbols in a new program, if you want.

Yes, but now that we know that database needs an update, I was hoping maybe someone may have done an upload and could comment...

ops updates always get me excited!
