Re: Latest trends in HT receivers, audio processors, amps?

Nevermind tight budgets, Trinnov is not for people who don't have large budgets :).? There are a LOT of options between Bose and Trinnov.? Things like Denon/Marantz AVRs and Marantz pre-pros, for example.? Monoprice has an excellent new pre-pro that they co developed with ATI, but I doubt they would be a great reseller option. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhat kind of customers (budget) are you looking at? We?re doing high end home cinemas and we?re more or less using Trinnov Altitude 16 and 32 in our installs. There?s nothing else that can beat it in terms of functionality and sound. Their room correction (optimizer + remapper) is of it?s own class. Support is also superb, they can connect directly via Internet to the unit (same is possible for you as a dealer). You get 5 years warranty. Device is future proof. We?ve got a customer who bought one oft he first units (one-digit serial number) and it?s still up-to-date with latest firmware and HDMI-board has been updated over time. The next HDMI-board update is close to release. ? Highly recommend! However, not for the tight budget¡ ? Cheers, Thorsten ? ? So guys, what are you seeing out there as great trends to get on board with regarding AV equipment for a Cinema/HT room?
I've grown accustomed to seeing lots of Lexicon (receiver) and Bose (audio processing and amp) combos out there, and they do the job perfectly fine, but I'm wondering what are some solutions outside of that worth keeping a close eye on? what are the latest trends in this space? Any information would be great, thanks (: |
Threadsafe rules were added in the r04 modules. I was having some other issues related to the "QS dimming load parsing module s r04" where it was throwing errors, and I reached out to Control Concepts who maintains them now. They provided me with a fixed r05 version of that module and its internal S+ which they plan to package for Lutron at some point. If you are having errors related to those, they gave me permission to share the fixed versions if someone was in need.??

Virtual SourcesHi Troy, Thanks for the input... I'm reading through these guides and I just can't get it. All I want is to turn on and off the tv in the room. I've never used these cisco units before so I'm second guessing everything I do as to whether I have the Widget done correctly etc. |
Re: Crestron RMC3 with Cisco Touch 10 and Codec Pro
If you download the PDF guides for the UI Extensions and also the Virtual Sources this is extremely easy to do with just an SIO.. You don't need any fancy modules, and I've done it successfully this way for more than 3 years with at least a dozen Touch10 systems.
Once connected, you need to subscribe to the UI events btw, so if you haven't done that over the SSH session that could be the issue with not receiving feedback. All the information is available within the codec guide and the two other guides. edit: I'm not sure I would even bother with that Crestron program. Not sure why they have some components written in SIMPL# and then a majority of it is still all written in SIMPL+... It could have all been written in SIMPL# (including the file operations), and for a more versatile program without threading issues; it could have been written entirely in SIMPL# Pro for a controller agnostic solution. If they just released that configuration program recently, I have no clue why they chose to do a lot of the work in SIMPL+. It seems bulky the way they did it. -- ?

Re: Security Cams Integration (General Opinions)
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI think Zoneminder (zoneminder.com) could do the trick. I had a look at it some time ago. It can combine multiple camera streams into different multi-camera views. However, i found it quite complicated and didn?t find out how to get this combined stream out zoneminder. But as far as i understood, it should be doable. ? ? Von: [email protected] <[email protected]> Im Auftrag von Neal Fink ? The Blue Iris app should handle all of your mobile devices. For Crestron control, there¡¯s?a REST API. You should be able to do everything you want by just integrating with the Blue Iris server and not dealing with the individual NVRs at all. You¡¯ll need something that can receive the streams and convert to HDMI for display on TVs. Someone else suggested a digital signage player, which seems like a good approach.? |

Like Mark, my friend Dean and I re-wrote the parsing routine of the previous versions of the feedback modules for reliability.
The issues that we were seeing were just missed updates, not a complete failure - but again I was working with the previous version (R03 I think) and it was definitely previous versions of QS software (up to 14.5 I think...) |
Re: Security Cams Integration (General Opinions)
You definitely did it the "sales man" style.?
BTW, if this fails somehow, if all is need is NO more than 2x2, you could use a digital signange player to combine the video, into a signle HDMI out, the stream that to a panel (so 2 more devices). Most cameras now a days have secondary and even tertiary streams, which are usually lower quality, and you can use them for the DS player with specific resolution and bandwidth, independent of the primary (presumed recording stream). Not optimal but somewhat cheap solution. I am not sure which digital signage player will handle the 2x2 but there should be some available.? |

I am starting to think I have promised something irritating ...? oh well.? I always tell my customers that "crestron will do anything you can dream up".? I will figure this out some how.? I did not know about the camera brands but I figured there would only be one or two in the game.
I will work on getting some hikivision for the test bench... they seem to be most common as I have been looking at installed cams lately.? Its funny, I have never gave much attention to cams in the past yet they are on every job I was involved in. I might have to build a module... I think a lot of programmers would want to integrate their cams like this.? Blue Iris is semi-open source so I might try to disassemble that (unless there is another programmer that wants the fanfare to do this :)? ) An integrator gave me an idea... i can build a live feed wall based on inputs.? I just have to translate those inputs into digital IP feeds.? Then I can feed those IP's via the web-server module from the cam equipment... sounds easy ;p <C4 - canadian-tire made 4 constant maintenance> |
Re: New x70 touchpanels
This bit piqued my interest:
"streaming video from an IP camera, a streaming encoder (Crestron CEN?NVS200-PWE, DM?TXRX?100?STR, or similar), or a DigitalMedia? switcher" Specifically DigitalMedia and I'd like to see some clarification of that. No indication of what DigitalMedia but I don't see this being a DM ready product. More than likely via an DMC-STRO. |
Re: New x70 touchpanels
Regarding the Android OS I brought this up in the webinar and they said they were planning in future updates to be able to upgrade the OS. I guess time will tell...
And the prox sensor why did they not put it at the top or bottom like the tabletop version that way the panel looks symmetrical? I dont get it. |
