That's what I thought. Thanks.

Re: AVA remote

The Crestron Android app also is not compatible with Pixel 7 (regular and pro) due to lack of 32bit support, so an update is on the way. No idea when.

I'm interested in the Ava for a hotel application.

Me too, my understanding is that they are aware of it. It's been going on for over a month.

Re: Crestron App Not Connecting #xpanel

I have also begun to experience issues with the CrestronGo app on all apple products since the latest iOS update.
Rotation cannot?be locked until after the first rotation...
The app will often lock up with black screen after rotation...if it does have graphics/buttons, the bottom portion of the screen is non operational
If the app is working perfectly, in this case in portrait mode, and the phone goes to sleep, the app has a 50/50 chance of never recovering.? It will sit with the chasing circle of dots trying to connect...
Closing and reopening the app clears all of the above issues, until a rotation etc. causes them to return.
None of these issues were present before the iOS update about two weeks ago.
I've insured the software is current, deleted/reinstalled CrestronGo, rebooted devices, etc.? Problems persist.
For now, the fix is to ALWAYS close the app when you're done and start anew next time.
Any?input would be greatly appreciated, even?if its just to say 'me too'?
It'd be nice to know Crestrons' working on it.? I'm pretty sure Apples' not...
Happy Thanksgiving!

Re: Visual Studio 2008 #simplsharp

I have heard rumors that some people have gotten old 3.5 stuff to compile with new versions of VS, but I believe they needed the VS2008 installed as well.

Unfortunately debugging with the latest VS is the biggest pain I have ever fought.? Funny how they celebrated getting rid of the VS2008 debugging at their masters talk on debugging.? It may have been a bit finnicky but WAY more reliable than debugging with 2019.

Re: DSC PowerSeries Neo

Just a follow-up on this, as I have a project asking for NEO integration...
1. Is there a non-CCD module (traditional SMW-style module) for the NEO series???
2. If not, will this PKG work on 3-series?? Dave H's initial comments seemed to indicate that it will only 4-series...

TIA!

Due to the .NET framework version that the Windows CE install for 3-series processors uses you must use VS2008 with the Crestron Plugin. You can¡¯t use the plugin on newer (or older) VS versions or community edition versions. If you don¡¯t need 3-series support (given the number of 3-series processors that are still current product I¡¯d say this is dangerous but then again if you only do resi the MPC and DMPS may not matter to you)

?

If you have a Visual Studio Subscription you can definitely get VS2008 in the VS portal¡ I just set up a new desktop a couple weeks ago and two of my first installs were Visual Studio 2022 and 2008 ¨C both downloaded from the same portal and no issues (I have physical media for Visual Studio 2008 but my new PC doesn¡¯t support optical discs so it was just easier to download the ISO than find a drive and key in the CD key)

[Edited Message Follows]

Sorry for ressurecting an old thread, but I don't seem to find an answer.

I want to dive into Simpl#, and on the Crestron Website, they say the libraries work with Visual Studio 2008 SP1.
It seems to be an old version, not supported anymore and not available for download. (except for the link provided above)? I doubt that the only way to create simpl# modules is throught this old 2008 software. Crestron should be better than this... no?

I heard about Visual Studio Community versions, can that work?

What is the simplest way for me to start?

I'm new at this Simpl# thing so thanks for your help.

-----------------------------edit------------------------------

If I understand correctly the excel sheet, VS2008 professional is included in the latest supported version of VS if you have a specific Microsoft Licence that allows it?

Re: Alexa vs Google Home

Yes I'm quite familiar with Josh.? I wrote an article about Josh for Residential Tech Today a while back.?

I thought that Google also had the ability to link commands with "and". Please correct me if I'm wrong on that.? Amazon just uses follow-up mode where it keeps listening after one command is issued so you can add a second command without saying alexa again.? However, "and" is much more natural speech.

Josh has its niche but it is just too expensive for the average person.?? I'm curious about Mycroft though.?

I don't believe that Alexa, or its direct competitors, will simply go away.? These companies have sold way too many smart speakers that killing the functionality of all those products would result in a massive class action law suit.

I believe this is because Josh.ai has the patent on complex commands allowing multiple requests to be concatenated with "and". If you have not, I would check out Josh as an option. Definitely more pricey than either Alexa or Google, but you're not selling your data and I'm less worried about Josh being shuttered on a whim, which I definitely get concerned about with the other players.?

Re: Alexa vs Google Home

I'll throw out my $.02.? It used to be that if you had an Amazon prime subscription Alexa was a "no brainer".? However, with the recent changes to Amazon music and TuneIn adding tons of ads on top of the ads already included in the Internet radio stations they make available, the differences aren't as clear cut as before.?

I don't feel there is any difference in integration as the same crestron modules are used for either service.

However, there is one unique trigger available with the IFTTT Alexa service that I don't believe can be replicated with Google Assistant.? My wife and I use Alexa devices as alarm clocks.? There is an IFTTT trigger when an Alexa Alarm Clock alarm is triggered.? We use this to wake our house up in the morning including restoring the heat to its normal daytime setting.? No extra commands to issue in the morning when we get up, no second timed triggers needed since we get up at different times on different days.? We also have over a dozen Alexa devices so changing would be expensive.?

The Amazon personnel cutbacks in their devices division and the losses in that division are also worrying as it doesn't paint a good picture for future enhancements in Alexa.?

I do think Alexa's voice processing has stagnated.? I think it is ridiculous after this amount of time that you can't link 2 commands in one sentence with the word "and" in between.

Also the fact you can't stop Alexa from giving you additional information after a simple voice command is very annoying; especially since there are settings that are supposed to turn all that off.

Hope this helps

Jay

Re: Visual Studio 2008 #simplsharp

You have to have VS 2008 to do SIMPL # for 3 series processors.? You can use new versions of Visual Studio to do # for 4 series.??

The requirement of 2008 for 3 series is unfortunate, but it is what it is at this point.??

Re: Triggering Elk Alarm System into Alarm State

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Thanks Brian,

I hadn't thought about using an output instead of a Shelly relay.? I was hoping someone knew the internals of the modules well enough that there was a serial message that I could inject somewhere that would make the alarm system think there was an alarm.?

Thanks again

Jay,

The best way that I can come up with via Crestron modules would be to use the output control from any unused ELK output (relay).
For example, on the ELK system, name output 3 "Water Alarm", connect NO on output 3 to zone 1, and connect C on output 3 to C on zone 1.
Program zone 1 as a normally open zone with a Water Alarm definition.
Then, using the output control module from Crestron, you can toggle output 3 on and off as necessary.
This would require you to have an unused relay available on the ELK system, but it works great.

Hope this helps,
Brian

Re: Crestron Home - listen to youtube music?

Bluesound node.? No converters direct audio out; converters are just another fail point.? Has both airplay and Bluetooth plus some streaming services built in.? The reliability is worth the little extra money.??
