Re: NVX audio issues Apple TV 4K (3rd gen) & Datasat rs20i

Edited

Guys, I appreciate the feedback and believe me this is not how I would have designed this system.
Unfortunately it's fallen on me to get this working.

Were it not for the fact that the BD player is shared throughout the residence then it would have been an easy fix to patch all 3 sources straight into the Datasat.

I'm now seriously considering re-wiring this as I got it working briefly again, then it stopped.

This is what I'm planning to do:
ATV into Datasat HDMI-1
Sky Q to Datasat HDMI-2
BD 351c Output into Datasat HDMI-3 (as it is currently)
BD stays connected to it's respective 351c so can still be streamed around the residence.
Monitor out from the Datasat into one of the (to become) redundant 351c's to enable streaming the selected sources to the projector D30

Re: TSW-x70 log notice

I also noticed that TSW-x70¡¯s now require a pingable gateway. If you don¡¯t give them a gateway that is pingable then they disconnect every 2 minutes. On some sites I had to use the CP4¡¯s IP address as the gateway.?

Re: TSW-x70 log notice

Actually 'only' every 2-3 minutes...

TSW-x70 log notice

What the heck is this, now?!?!?!? Anybody?

Notice: /system/bin/platformd # 2023-04-25 09:06:26 # AndroidPM:Power State Timer Expired but ignoring state transition due to pause flag

The TSW-770's are adding this line to two panels' log, every 1sec...

Re: LG OLED55G2 IP Control

Morning guys

Thanks for your input much appreciated !
Got in this morning with a fresh head ! and after reading your input checked the logs again,Already? had attribute 1 set to the generated passcode code from the LG Network menu and attribute 2 set to the MAC but kept seeing set cool down time can not be set to zero keep going past in debugger so stuck a analog value of 20 on it on the Crestron Certified display Ethernet module v 2.0 and BOOM ! all worked spot on
Obviously you have to load the .pkg file etc for the module to work

Happy :-)

Thanks again

new LG with webos using SNMP + WOL.

Sonos Grouping #sonos

Has anyone successfully created a Sonos group dynamically in simpl? The module looks as if it should be possible and even easy but alas I'm having no luck.

Thanks,

Re: LG OLED55G2 IP Control

The newer LGs I've seen usually require a passcode. That doesn't apply to WOL, which would explain why Power On is the only command that works.

Watching the Log and User Attribute outputs in Debugger should provide specific clues to the exact problem. The driver's dat file can also be opened in NotePad++, using the JSON Viewer plugin, for descriptions of the attributes' usage.

AM200 - Not switch sources via simpl windows code

Just loaded a code to a RMC3 to switch the source on a AM200 unit. All I'm doing is sending either a 1d or 2d analog value to the "Video Out" line. I'm monitoring the "Video Out FB" line and it reports the source changing to the trigger source but the actual display image isn't switching between AM or HDMI. I have also set the "automatic input routing to disable" line to high to try and disable the automatic routing. Any idea of what else I need to do to get the source to switch via code would be appreciated.?

I definitely agree on that one and it?s a reasonable approach for the standard media/family-room.

However, it depends on the client?s expectation. If that?s your client?s requirement, then go for it.

Most of our clients would clearly be missing the ¡°ultimate soundfield¡± but dropping to the lowest common denominator.

And since there are approaches that work, why aim for less? ?

Re: Repropagate analog value out of a S+ module.

Looks like you guys are all correct as usual. It turns out I had another piece of the code causing strange behavior. I've finished my project and added it to the files section for anyone to use. This could be very useful for anyone looking to recall stepped out analogs into a rate limiter with the ability to cancel, change direction mid way, disable for instant pass through. I'm hoping this all being done in S+ isn't going to cause a performance issue if I ran 120 of them. From my experience I have never bottlenecked a processor with this type of approach in S+. I could have done this in SIMP only but my brain told me it would be easier in S+ lol, I hope I was right.
Thanks for all the helpful replies. I hope someone in the community can benefit from this little project.

Re: Repropagate analog value out of a S+ module.

I should try to only use S+ for things that were hard/impossible to do in SMW.

Agree 100%

?Sadly, I've found that setting up a high-end system at 1080p with 2ch audio and a SSP set to decode to an approximated immersive sound field is the only way to not get angry 'no picture or no sound' call backs.
Like selling a Ferrari to only drive 30 MPH on small town roads...
¡°

?

As we?re only doing highend systems starting at around 200KEU, I obviously can?t agree to this statement. ?

You just need to account for some detail ¨C keeping everything local for the cinema room is one of them. In these kind of installs, we usually have minimum one (mostly 2) full 42HE rack filled with just the cinema equipment anyway and keep these close to the cinema room in a dedicated technical room (which usually hosts the projector as well).

With sticking to such setups, we usually have zero issues with ¡°no picture, no sound¡± calls.

?

IMHO the most pain comes from devices that pretend to be smart and try to figure out setting themselves instead of keeping the setting we?ve done initially.

ATVs are one of these. If something goes wrong in the chain once and the ATV has the impression that sending Atmos is not a good idea, It can revert back to the minimum setting. Or sometimes updates just reset settings made previously.

?

That?s the real pain, IMHO.

Thorsten

Although we have had issues with AppleTV and Atmos, thru a DM16x16 with 4KZ in/out/rmcs... They are specified to be compatible with the Dolby and DTS immersive audio formats.
The DM and NVX (and other devices like AVpro) aren't designed to 'decode' these formats, just pass them thru to the devices that can, unless I'm missing something in your comments...

My basic beef with modern high-res AV formats is that when they work, they are magical...but they don't always work (usually at the most inopportune times...)
Unfortunately, until we as an industry tell the developers to make existing things reliable before coming up with some new/better? thing, we will continue to have pain.

I for one hate having to tell our clients the truth...
"Sir, would you like reliability or the latest formats??..."

Sadly, I've found that setting up a high-end system at 1080p with 2ch audio and a SSP set to decode to an approximated immersive sound field is the only way to not get angry 'no picture or no sound' call backs.

Re: Repropagate analog value out of a S+ module.

Just beware about doing stuff in SMW as anything that happens there counts as a signal change in debugger even though it doesn't show those signals changing in the scroll/log.? I wrote a module where S+ was outputting extremely chatty debug console spam from a device into a serial to be parsed in a SMW module wrapper and optionally passed out a serial to the main program... and discovered much to my chagrin that even with the serial in the main program commented out, the module was internally generating 400 changes per second by itself.? And I had a job that included 4 of these devices.?

Debugger locks up/crashes REAL quick when it is idling at 1600 changes per second without you even doing anything.

Obviously I had to go back and remove that "pass the debug spam out to the main program" optional functionality.? Suddenly my program was back to 8-16 changes per second at idle (RS-232 polling and such)

if using layer 2 switches, you will most likely need to add IP route commands to your switch configs (for both ways).??
