Re: Samsung UN series RS232

I've seen the opposite of Phil, but I think it has to do with certain models.? I can successfully control Samsungs with 232 ports on processors or DM receivers.? Almost every one that has been connected to a 1-way IR/Serial?port, I've had to go back and convert to IR.?

We just received an email last week that IP control is now enabled in all 2017 models with the latest firmware update.? The email contained a "protocol sheet" which didn't have any useful information, but it also said the Control4 driver was complete and they were working with other control companies to get the drivers done.

Re: Samsung UN series RS232

No solution.? I gave up and stuck an emitter on the set for volume.? All else via rs232.

The emitter isn't noticeable so it's an okay solution for this set.

Re: Samsung UN series RS232

Is this one of the Samsungs that uses TTL voltage instead of RS232 voltage? I've run into that before had had to use 1-way serial of an IR port.?

Hey galcala,

Any chance you found a resolution? Samsung told me my crestron processor was incompatible and I feel that this is just untrue as everything else works correctly (Power On/Off / Volume Mute), Im not using a module and using an SIO with the commands from this document

I'm waiting to hear back from Samsung if I hear anything I will update the thread.

Honerywell 4232CBM v1.4 - buffer overrun?

using this module to talk to a Vista 21 IP
I get correct status, but am receiving way too much data from the system and getting buffer overrun errors to the tune of 1000's per day
I increased the buffer from 1000 to 2000, got the same issue
the alarm is just sending data the module doesn't want to process
dealer has checked the alarm system twice per the info included in the module help

Lutron RadioRa2 via RS232 looping data back

we have 2 repeaters connected via IP to each other

the PRO3 is RS232 to 1 of the repeaters (tried both)

it just loops whatever we send via rs232 right back

no short in wires, only loops when connected to the Lutron piece

any ideas?

Re: Samsung UN series RS232

I have this exact same issue. Does anyone have a resolution??

When i pull power and re apply power to the display, for a small period of time i get a graphical overlay over whatever source is up and see the volume being adjusted. Than it eventually just goes to a black screen, but i can see the volume being adjusted, before it cuts back to the image.

Ideas?

Re: Control of a Crestron Lighting with a Lutron API

i was able to do this using the ra2 profile. no feedback though

Re: Control of a Crestron Lighting with a Lutron API

the only thing missing, for reliability sake...is maybe push all the commands out to a cloud based server first and then route it all back via a free DDNS service, making sure to use host names instead of static IP.??

You do realize there is a reason Apple Campus went with Crestron and NOT Savant right??!!!

Make sure the SWAMP is fully initialized before the strings are sent. I usually put the "device_ready" pulse into a delay that drives the msend for the strings.

Re: Control of a Crestron Lighting with a Lutron API

I read it as he wants to tell Savant that it is controlling a Lutron system because they don¡¯t have a profile for Crestron lighting, then use a module in Crestron to decode the ¡°Lutron-ese¡± and run the lights.

He wants a?Lutron system, that is being controlled from Savant,?to control Crestron lighting. ?Importing the Lutron XML won't help with that until he puts the necessary hooks in place on the Crestron side of things.

Re: Heatmiser via RS-485

Hi Fred,

I just tried to DM you, but it bounced, so here's the message:

?

Call anytime!! I would put a bet on this being a cabling issue somewhere - maybe a leg tied to ground or mixed up polarity along the way somewhere.

?

Unfortunately, I was going to suggest what you said you can't do - wire a stat directly (i.e. No UH-1, no other stats, no star wiring or daisy chains) and check that works.? If it does, then it's a process of elimination.

?

We had a report of a faulty stat showing similar behaviour btw...? I? was told they were an older rev of Heatmiser's firmware - though I found that hard to believe as it hasn't changed in *years*.

?

Speak soon,

Ol

P.S. I know this might seem a bit extreme, but we have a little USB digital oscilloscope/logic analyser (cost around ?200) which can save a lot of head scratching in these sorts of situations - you can categorically say whether the +VE/-VE lines are behaving on the Tx phase that way (or you might see one line doesn't mirror the other, which suggests an issue) and if that looks correct (i.e. the two traces are almost perfect mirrors of each other) then the most likely explanation the stat itself failing to respond (which could be bad hardware, or this "old" firmware!?)

Re: SWAMP Zone Name

Okay, thanks.? I'll look again, but it appears that none of these serial strings is populated yet some of the rooms have names - others do not.? I'm sure it's pilot error.

Thanks again.

Heatmiser via RS-485

Hi folks,

I'm attempting to control some Heatmiser Slimline-N thermostats via Crestron but I'm not receiving any Rx comms whatsoever...not even garbage...pure silence.

There are five Heatmiser UH-1 manifolds to which roughly five or six thermostats are connected. The Heatmiser TouchPad is not in use with this system, control is to be solely from Crestron.

I've tried the following:
  • Checked RS-485 port settings and pin-outs are correct on Crestron CP3. (pin 2 and 4. pin 1 is not in use)
  • Removed any references to this particular port from other programs running in parallel on the CP3.
  • Tried swapping polarity (swapping pin 2 with pin 4).
  • Tried the Y&B connectors on the UH-1's touch pad port, as well as C&D.
  • Tried the Y&B connectors on the UH-1's network port (that daisy chains to other UH-1s).
  • Used another Crestron processor to rule out any port issues.
  • Checked thermostat addresses.
  • Connected to another UH-1 on the Heatmiser bus.
  • Disconnected all other UH-1s and attempted to control only the thermostats connected locally.
  • Connected Crestron directly to a thermostat's Y&B terminations on the UH-1 and attempted to poll that particular thermostat for data. I cannot connect Crestron directly to any thermostat as the Y&B ports have been covered in glue...I imagine to keep wires in place...no sign of any phoenix connectors.

I'm using version 3 of Ultamation's Heatmiser (RS485) module. So Oliver, if you're reading this expect a call from me soon...I must be missing something.

Any assistance greatly appreciated. I've exhausted all possibilities.

Best,

Fred.
