Re: DM endpoints power

Crap - you're right!? I breezed through the Answer ID, but I already knew about the jumpers.? Why, won't they update this? ?

I should have posted to look at this thread:?

Also note that there are jumpers on the inputs cards as well.

What's not mentioned in Ans ID 5609 is that the output cards also have a jumper which enables PoE for the "non-compliant 802.3af compliant" (The DM 4K online training says Crestron are compliant) switches.

Speak to TB - they can tell you which jumper to move. (Hint... it says "POE" on the board next to it).

Re: Serial to Digital Pulse

Chip,

You hit this on the money, do you have an example?

Re: Serial to Digital Pulse

The 4th character in the string could be any alphanumeric value with no delimiter or carriage return, when the 4th chr is received from the string i would like to trigger a digital pulse.

Re: Sony FWD 85X850D 232

"866-924-7669"

I think that's the number I've been needing for a few days now.? :)

I'm guessing it's that menu item you're referring to, which I haven't been able to find while digging around the menus.

I'll give them a call later this morning when I'm sure they're open.

Thanks!

Re: Serial to Digital Pulse

"I would like to send a digital pulse when the 4th chr in the string is entered."

Still not clear, but if you mean "I want to generate a digital pulse when a string becomes four characters long", then I would run your serial signal into a SLEN (String Length) and take the analog out from that into an ACOMP2.? Use an init to create a "constant" of four and put that signal on the other input of the ACOMP2.? When the equal output lights up, there ya' good.? Run that into a OS if you truly need a pulse.

Assuming this is coming from a keypad so you're not worried about the string length doing anything *but* incrementing by one...? (I.E., there's no way the length will be able to jump from "3" to "5")

Re: Sorting out identical serial replies

You can try an interlock that tracks the last command and then when you receive the OK or ACK or whatever your getting as a response you can compare against last command sent.

Re: Serial to Digital Pulse

You are going to need to gather more information before coming up with a solution to this question. Is there a delimiter or carriage return? Is the 4th character always going to be a "b" ? When do you need the counter to reset? 4th character from what starting event?
If you take the time to explain exactly what you are doing I'm sure you will get a good answer.

Sorting out identical serial replies

Hi, all.?

What's the simplest and most logical way to handle serial responses from a device that returns the same string as an answer to multiple questions? For example, if I ask a recorder its current recording state, the response is the same string that I'm looking for in another place to track HDCP status...

Would you put the outputs of the SIO on a buffer that is only active after asking each relevant question, or is there a more logical way to handle this?

Thanks for the help!?

Re: Best practices for Remote System Exports in D3 Pro

only the virtual keypad

If you are doing cycle dim, you would not pulse the button, just tie the button on the av side to the virtual button so they can raise/lower/toggle

Re: Best practices for Remote System Exports in D3 Pro

For your first question if you only want to press the virtual button from your Simpl side you only need to include the keypad in the RSD. Only include the loads if you want individual load control on your Simpl side.?

as for the second question you only need to pulse the keypad button that is on your imported RSD. No delay needed. You can use a pulse time of .1s or even 1t.?

thanks
seems to be doing the trick

Re: Best practices for Remote System Exports in D3 Pro

Dumb question here from a new programmer trying to learn SIMPL, but it's related to bryan's question and setup.

Suppose you have a virtual keypad programming in D3 and then exported from D3 ----> RSD. ?Let's say it calls a global preset that touches a lot of loads in the house.?

To call the virtual button in SIMPL, based on the ipad app button press, and have it work, do you need to export from D3:
a) just the virtual keypad
b) just the virtual keypad and the preset that it is programmed to call on keypress
c) a + b + all the loads that the preset touches or references

Second dumb question
What's best programming practice in SIMPL to trigger the keypress? ?Just call the button keypress name, or do you normally use an delay to hold it "pressed" for a normal program execution length. ?Please be as detailed as you can.

Many thanks,
P3

Re: Serial to Digital Pulse

I would like to send a digital pulse when the 4th chr in the string is entered.

example: string - 1a2b / digital pulse?

Re: Serial to Digital Pulse

You're going to have to be more descriptive to get a valid answer.

Any idea?
