Re: TSR-310 Recommended Access Point

The remote works but when using directional buttons up and down in guide fast or holding them down to repeat it doesn't work very well , wondering if this is because of the connection.? or the fact it doesn thave seperate ssid just for that remote.

Re: Anyone noticing slowdowns/failures in loading to 4-series processors lately?

I feel your pain and share it too.
On-site with CP4, latest FW, latest TB (although DB's are not latest)
Just went to upload a program change to slot-01 and forgot to kill the program.
I waited, and waited, had lunch, came back and bit the bullet, trudged all the way down to the basement and yanked the power in frustration.

At least by the time I got back to my laptop the CP4 had re-booted.
This has been going on for so long, I simply fail to understand why 4-series are so crap. Like you, 3-series is a dream.

Re: TSR-310 Recommended Access Point

We use Ruckus they work just fine. I would recommend setting up a separate SSID on the AP nearest the remote's home. These 310s dont roam very well so that way you can lock it to a particular AP. You can hide the SSID if you wish.?

Re: TSR-310 Wifi Connections

Run WIFISETUP FORGET and that will remove the current AP. Make sure your firmware is up to date because that command was broken for a long time and they finally fixed it recently. I had a few cases for that issue before they finally agreed it was broken and it took them almost a year to fix... But I wouldnt advise doing this remotely as you will lose connection to the remote. Unless you have a human on site that can go into the setup and connected to a new AP.?

Also FYI:

TSR-310>wifisetup ?
Get/Set WAP this device connects to.
WIFISETUP [SSID] [Authentication] [Cipher] [Password]?
?[SSID]? ? ? ? ? - SSID of WAP. 'FORGET' will remove current WAP.
?[Authentication]? ? - Must be one of these: wep|wpa|wpapsk|wpa2|wpa2psk|open?
?[Cipher]? ? ? ? ? ? - Must be one of these: none|64|128|aes|tkip?
?[Password]? ? ? - password or key
? ? ?If the Authentication is "open" then the Cipher and Password can be omited.
?No Parameters - Displays current WAP connection information
?

Re: Anyone noticing slowdowns/failures in loading to 4-series processors lately?

Interesting to hear that you are having problems with 3-series... I'm experiencing absolutely no issues with my lab PRO3. In fact, it is a joy to work with (running v1.8001.5061.27527-Nov 10 2022 and with the latest databases & softwares that Master Installer has to offer.)
On the other hand, the AV4 I'm currently dealing with onsite is a drag. This issue really slows me down... specially at the end of the day when you start making quick last minute adjustments and all you want to do is to be able to quickly upload, then test, then go home...but nooooo.... wait.... you have to dance the dance with killprog, then be down on your knees hoping that the program actually stops to only then be able to continue... Not to mention when things get to a point where you have to simply reboot the whole shebang.
Like I mentioned, working with the good old 3-series has been a pleasure. To the point that I try to test as much as I can from my 3-series and avoid interacting with the 4-series as much as possible. But of course this is only possible to a certain extent, at some point you have to face the beast (AV4 Cntrl Eng [v2.8003.00049 (Dec? 6 2023)).
And I want to avoid going back to older versions of the database/software because I am relying on the more recent versions of the Cisco Room Devices Module (7.0002). So apparently there is no easy work-around for me until Crestron "just fixes it".

TSR-310 Recommended Access Point

Hey does anyone know the best access points to use with the TSR-310 remotes?

Re: Device Control Lag via IP

Is there any chance that there are network cables that fail testing along the way?? Once I caught an issue like this that turned out to be a miswired Ethernet cable (like it went 12-34-56-78 instead of 12-36, 45-78), turns out the twists matter very much.? It provided a network connection that initially seemed to light up but then really choked when you went to use it.

Another time that comes to mind was when the network was getting stormed by misbehaving equipment that put the router's CPU to 100% and caused other strange network behavior.? Packets would get severely delayed.? Those kinds of problems are sometimes hard to troubleshoot.? Last time it happened to me, it was a "Fingbox" (a network monitoring appliance) that was flooding an iMac with multicast DNS queries at full network rate due to some bug in the then-current release that made it get stuck in a loop... it brought the network to its knees.? Locating the offending equipment was 98% of the battle.

Basically if you're looking for ideas, I'm suggesting troubleshoot their network, or eliminate their network from the connection path as a test.? Never hurts to bring a 1000 ft roll of cat6 to a customer house so you can snake a long temporary hardwire connection through their house, all the way to their TV just to see if the problem goes away while you're using it without their network.

Yup...until Home crashes under its own weigh like the previous 12 'wizard' apps they've had over the years...then all of a sudden they'll want us again...

(And yes, HOME is the 13th 'wizard' since I've been a dealer/programmer...really!)

bump...

could agree more the "brain trust" still?charges for an app oh and you can't?even download it GREAT play... join 2024 and give the app away it's worthless without tens of thousands of dollars of Crestron...which is out of stock

I just had another client ask me about this yesterday. Not to mention my own phone (Pixel 8 Pro), and my wife's....

Re: Question about Crestron Mobile panels....

On the panels at issue, when I depress the new buttons, they do not engage ie active inactive,? so in Debugger, the signals do not show up. With the panels that work, Debugger shows the signals in question perfectly. However now the IR codes on the Ipads that work are not working. I assumed because they engaged on the panel, when I slotted the new corresponding IR file into Simpl, they would be fine but they are not.

Re: Question about Crestron Mobile panels....

I recommend you use Simpl Debugger to see what is happening when you press the buttons in the iPads that are not working as you are expecting.
My guess is that there are some issues with the code.

If all the iPads are programmed with the same logic and use the same iPad file you can just change the ID of the non working iPad with one that works and see what happens. I am sure the error will follow the ID which means there is something wrong in that IDs logic.

Re: Question about Crestron Mobile panels....

Thanks but the ipads are receiving the new updated graphics programs. And yes I have to load each one directly but thats ok. The problem is that the two in question are not recognizing the updated simpl program with updated join numbers which clearly work as the other two DO recognize the updated simpl program.
The IOS setting has auto reconnect set to on. But again the changes are being updated in all the panels, at least the graphic portions. Again the symbol logic in the two panels that are giving me issues is identical to the other two panels so hence my bewilderment.

Re: Question about Crestron Mobile panels....

FTR, Use Local file=ON means that you have to load the graphics file directly to each iPad. if one/more still have the old project (i.e. not the new project) you'll see what you're experiencing.
If Use Local File=OFF, the iPad will look to download the graphics project from a server (typically the processor on the same network) which of course requires that the updated graphics project is loaded to the processor.

I have seen on occasion where sending an updated project to the processor will not get updated and I need to delete the files and reload them freshly.

Also, in the iOS setting, check the settings for the crestron app. if Auto-reconnect is set to off, it will not look for any new changes. If two were set to ON and the others to OFF, this could also explain the anomaly

Re: Converting PAC2 to dumb Cresnet "landing point"

I actually recently did this...
In short, the CresNet buss isn't shared all the way through,? so I used the existing 300wPs, for a connection to one port on each row.

Below are my notes from the work order...

20231031 (1130-1430) OnSite - Tim Quealy
? ? ?Install a new DIN-AP4 processor, and get all the lighting Devices communicating.
? ? ? ? ? Power needed for the (50) Keypads was calculated at 175Watts.
? ? ? ? ? I Chose to reuse the 300Watt Power supply currently being used
? ? ? ? ? I used the Connections on the Failed PAC2 for the CresNet Connections.
? ? ? ? ? Tried to Power each Bus on the PAC2, but they would only Communicate with that row.
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Tied to Power center for each of the (8) rows of the PAC2
Advanced test of the system showed it to be working as expected.?

Re: Question about Crestron Mobile panels....

The Use Local File is set to on in all four panels. By changing any of them to off, the program will not run. So must be something else. Thanks for the suggestion though.
