Subject: [Crestron] Crestron Today issues

Hi all

Having some real issues with the "Crestron Today" notification view/watch widget.

I have an MC3 running 1.501.0105, and the paid SG (Silver) app running on a phone and an iPad.

In Simpl Windows, I've obviously got my "Crestron App Notification Widget Functions" extender added to my "Crestron App". For now, I have defined all 10 of my "item X pressed" joins, have an analog with a value of 10 going into "number of items" (this is set at boot) as well as 10 fields of text and the header going into the serial joins (again, set at boot)

For now the panel layout is loaded to the iPad and the iPhone locally and the full panel works perfectly. I have routed the joins to a test page and i can see the text and the value of the analogs has been set.

?

When i go to the notification view widget on the phone or ipad, or a watch paired with the phone, i just get "Not Configured" as the header, and on the watch, "Not Configured" along with 10 blank buttons.

?

I read about database version being newer than 70 - I am running:-

?

SIMPL Windows:? 4.05.04
SIMPL+? 4.04.01
Device Database: 81.00.002.00
Crestron Database:? 60.05.007.00
Crestron Toolbox: 2.42.541.00
SIMPL+ Cross Compiler: 1.3

Any ideas what I have missed?!

Cheers

Re: PC Control via Crestron

I have been using MCE controller for a long time, and it works great to send keyboard commands through. Does other things as well.

We've had good luck with using the Crestron RS232 to USB cable to get our CP3's to control presentations on our conference room PCs. If keyboard commands are known, that might work for you.

For direct RS232 comm port control of specific programs such as MediaMatrix, Extron Quantum Elite, etc, we've used the Digi One SP Ethernet to Serial converters, which might be more suited to your needs. Our CP3s would talk to it as an Ethernet device and would relay serial commands to our various audio and video control server programs.

We didn't really care for the Crestron TCP module so our SW programmer wrote his own.

Hope this helps,
Jeff

I just recently talked about this on my blog and posted code on github that calculates the angle and elevation to the sun and then operates shades based on whether the sun is shining in the window or not. ? Windows are defined in an xml file that is read by the processor so the code knows the angle of the window for comparison with the sun angle to know when the sun is shining into the window or not.?

You can find the code here

Question for Chris or anybody that knows: Does Pyng consider every load on a panelized lighting system a "device", or just the modules? So in other words if you have 2 full panels with 8 full DIM8 modules would it be 16 devices, or 128 devices against the 250 limit?

My overall thoughts are this would be ok for a customer that has never had experience with lighting control as it could be an easy way to get something in but I would not use it for panel lights and would limit to only a few dozen lighting loads.? I think the scene / load control needs to evolve before I would really want to use often.?? Re: Debugger digital signal indicators

Hi Heather,

It's better than it was and far more usable than the first update, though I'm still not used to it yet...? shame we just couldn't have an option to switch between the familiar and the "progressive"?;-)

Cheers,
Ol

Re: Pyng and setting set points from Simpl

Is there a way to have one of the whole house macros recall a setpoint and trigger that? Never used Pyng with HVAC.

PC Control via Crestron

R M

I am using a PRO3 processor and I need it to control a PC (Windows Embedded)

The PC has a Serial port, but no API.
Is there software I can load to get the PC to talk to the PRO3 via serial?

Also, Is there a keyboard/mouse emulator to act like a TCP/IP client?

The Emulator would need to allow TCP packets to a port listener.

Maybe a SIMPL module already exists to to this?

I appreciate your help!!

Does anyone happen to have IR hex codes for a Pioneer VSX 924 HD zone.

The Crestron modules have the main zone and zone two but no HD zone

I'm still on Toolbox 2.42.324.

Have the Toolbox changes since this uproar about the colors resulted in a useable debugger?? I figure I'm going to be required to update Toolbox sometime soon.

A medium-sized crow has informed me that this should be in a higher-contrast form in the near future.

I like what they were going for in terms of consistency across the software (blue = digital across the board, etc) ¨C especially since one of the things I¡¯ve bitched about has been Crestron¡¯s lack of consistency ¨C but the change/lack of contrast in the arrows was not well conceived

Re: Apple TV 4 IP Control

Some good points Trey,

I personally would pay the 50 bucks in a heartbeat to have this working and not be using (because its not wasting) other's or my own time getting something to work just to not pay for it. As a one who supports both verbally and financially companies like Control Works, etc., I believe time and knowledge have value. ?Not just my own, but also that of my peers. ?This group is not only a great resource but also a good place to listen to & voice ideas that the rest of the world could care less about.

I guess I want it all...
some great sources to pay for what we don't have the either the time, imagination or experience to create, AND some like minded peeps to share ideas with without cost or obligation.

Glad you all are here!
