Dead simple web interface for anyone savvy (but if you're pretty as well, that couldn't hurt).

There is also a CLI for tweaks if you're in a unique situation that needs it

Paul, is that something a pretty-savvy guy can set up? How about the controller? I don't wind to wind up in a Cisco-style command line where I'm depending on "how-tos" to make it work. I've signed up with Ruckus, just never purchased.

Thanks, Heath

Can someone recommend WAPs / controllers for a 4-WAP system, specifically some that will hand off connections between WAPs without hiccuping iPads? I'd like to work with something that I can set up myself (I can only learn so much Cisco ios before I forget it). I've presented Access and the client won't bite on their system.

Currently I have Netgear WNDAP 360 WAPs and while they seem to work very well standing still, they don't hand off worth a crap.

Re: Wifi Recommendation

Heath,

You won't have any trouble setting up a ruckus system. The director
(hardware) had a beautiful web interface and configures the AP's for
you. You may spend a couple hours tweaking (just because its so
freaking cool and does so much that your going to want to play with
some of it) but it will be up and running within an hour.

Ctrl+H rant

Heather Baiman

Every now and then I mistype (always when I'm editing a touchpanel in Simpl) and Crestron decides to put a signal name on every join of the touchpanel, which is completely NOT undoable. Today I finally figured out what the mistype is, instead of Ctrl+G so that I can get to a specific join number, I hit the H and I get completely screwed.

Shared Resource Limitations

David Ives

Hi folks,

I'm talking with a client who is designing a multi-room system with a 32x32 DM, a few 3 series procs and about 20 TSW panels. He's experienced in AV (read: been burned before) and is concerned about packing all of the programs into as few processors as possible.

What kind of limitations should we be concerned about?

The system will not be especially chatty. The rooms are almost all separate rooms, some with just PC inputs and a single display and others as VTC rooms.

Thanks!

Re: Creating Epson serial module for Powerlite G5450

I have now disabled all polling with the exception of PWR?\x0D when the projector is powered off. I am not receiving any ERR responses now.

Is there a buffer or something in the projector that needs to be cleared on a regular basis? If the projector is left off for a long period of time(anywhere from a couple hours to overnight), it seems to lockup and won't except a power "on" command. I have had to unplug the projector, and after it rebooted it would then turn on/off with no problems. This repeatedly happens when the projector is left off.

I have not tested overnight since getting the ERR messages to stop, but I have left it on the test bench for over an hour and it did not lock up.

Thanks for all the info so far.

A PTL has deep-seated feeling of Prodigy-ness (a jumper, a resistor
with a different value, or something).

A quick diff of the TPS firmware blob vs. the PTL's shows... nothing.
They use exactly the same firmware.

FWIW, I have a PTL4 and a P-TSTATRF in my office running off a CP2e.
Not like they could be used anywhere else.

With older firmware you can just use a physical PTL-4 where you have a
programmatic TPS-4L.

With newer firmware, the processor pays more attention to the panel's
identity and won't speak to the PTL-4.

If I wreck the unit, so be it, then we'll hunt for a 4L. So before I bother with

So this turned out to be a non-issue or is there something I'm not aware of that is going

Bright Sign UDP

I am new to Crestron and would like to know how to send UDP commands. I have some Bright sign units that I would like to trigger with an Ipad I have setup with Crestron. I have added a UDP command on C2NENT-2 on port OC. I put the Address as 255.255.255.255 (don't see were the port is supposed to go though). The command I would like to send in Ascii is "Trigger". I didn't know if someone had a sample in Simpl that I could look at and reverse engineer. any help would be great. Thanks

Yep, kind of - we were given different commands to fix CPU throttling a couple weeks ago. It helped get the media player back to almost usable, and improved scrolling in general. Transitions were bad before .25.

I wonder if that command restores more hidden stuff than just resetting the temp limits on the CPU.

Re: Fusion RoomView DeviceUsage Serial Attribute

Apparently I didn't follow the rabbit hole deep enough. The required
format is actually:

STRING sDate[10], sTime[8];
sDate = date(3); // 2013/05/02
sDate = left(sDate, 4) + "-" + mid(sDate, 6, 2) + "-" + right(sDate, 2); //
2013-05-02
sTime = time();

makestring (To_RV_Device_Usage$, "USAGE
||%s||%s||TIME||%s||%s||-||%s||-||%s||%s||",
sDate, sTime, Asset_Type$, Asset_Name$, itoa(g_iLastUsedminutes),
sAssetID, sMeetingID);

On Wed, May 1, 2013 at 3:27 PM, Jeremy Weatherford <jweather@...>wrote:

I thought you used to be able to just send serial text to that attribute

RoomView demo program (available from the RVSE page, not the Fusion RV

monstrosity:

makestring (To_RV_Device_Usage$,
"USAGE||-||-||TIME||%s||%s||-||%s||-||%s||%s||", // I think I'm in |-|3||
Asset_Type$, Asset_Name$, itoa(g_iLastUsedminutes), sAssetID, sMeetingID);

Fortunately it appears that sAssetID and sMeetingID can be "-", which is
good since I have no idea what I would set them to.

Anybody built a sane version of this module yet that doesn't wake up 12 S+
modules every 10 seconds just to increment a counter?

Subject: [Crestron] Fusion RoomView DeviceUsage Serial Attribute

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to configure various control systems we have to send
information to fusion roomview using the default attributes that are in the
roomview module itself, as well as some custom attributes we have made.
Most seem to be OK, but we can't trigger reports from the 'DeviceUsage'
serial attribute that you can send roomview through the roomview module
(either version 7 or 8).

I was wondering if anyone had made alot of use of this serial string back
to roomview and knew if you have to construct the string in a certain way
for the roomview server to adequatley process it for reports? In a similar
way maybe to how the 'errormessage' serial string has to be constructed in
a certain way?

Any advice or experience you've had would be really great! I'm not sure
if this should work or not!

Cheers!
